I cracked up the Porsche over the weekend... what did you do?
A day late, but it was Columbus day so I was off getting stuff done. So you might have seen my other post. Took out a tree with the front fender of the car Saturday.
What did you do this weekend?

Hawk - Good luck with the car repair.
I was on vacation last week. Instead of traveling, I stayed home to work on my car project. For the past year, I've been in working on rebuilding an engine. Last week was time for assembly. I had my friend John who lives near by and also my friend George who flew out from California to assist. Unfortunately, we didn't get as much as I wanted done. George arrived on 9/28 and we started on Saturday. We quickly discovered that I was missing a few items. I placed orders with FedEx overnight delivery. Fortunately, we were able to stay busy. We have the basic assembly complete (long block including cam timing). Next step is installing all of the external bits and accessories and the reinstalling in the car. The goal is to have the car back on the road next Spring.
I took a bunch of photos but they are too large to upload to RL. What do you recommend for photo sharing?

Three Wheelin'
Hawk, you seem to bearing the shock manfully, I'm sure you'll be back on the road in no time.
I managed at last to get the 964 out of the garage and the Skyline back on the ramp, to finish the bodywork that I started in mid July (rudely interrupted by the 964's need for a new clutch).
Also took apart the wife's Audi A3 door to get to the root of a bust electric window.
Fun and games, at one point I had three cars, all with flat batteries, and a wife overdue to go into labor looking out of the window anxiously!
BTW I use flickr for my forum photo's - photobucket, picassa and a few others do a similar job.

Sunday was a very sad day...drove two hours to a work colleague's funeral.
With no radio in the car...lots of time to think about life. Gave the family a big hug when I got home.
Rob - Picasaweb by Google is pretty good. Offers some basic image editing (light levels/cropping) and it's easy to upload pictures (or link them) to the forum. Picasa also does a good job of finding ALL the images on your computer.

Jetta - I've uploaded the pictures but am having trouble getting them to appear on Rennlist. Is there a trick I'm missing? I set the access to Public.
Sample photo
Never mind. I figured it out.

I look at it this way- it is just a car. I'm upset and disappointed it happened, but in the end, nothing serious happened and it's fixable. I have insurance, and they will take care of me. I just have to find a reputable shop to do the work.

I did 5 laps of the Nurburgring in a prepped Suzuki Swift rental in a massive downpour.
I also spotted a Rennlister's 964 parked at the track, red w/ black graphics, black center mesh wheels, looked awesome, don't remember the person's username.
Also visited the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart and the BMW Museum in Munich.

Here in beautiful BC we've had a fantastic fall so far.
Our spring was terrible but the sunshine has been great for August, September and now the first week of October.
Weekend was spent driving up the "Sea to Sky" highway to Whistler with my son. He drove most of the way.
I learned to drive manual on a Datsun 510 .... he learned on a Porsche 964.
A couple of pictures from Britiannia mines.

Just in case anyone else wants to use Picasa for images...
When you right-click on the image in the album, make sure you use a browser (like Firefox) that has the "copy image location" option. Explorer doesn't...
Then paste the code that you copied around [img] code [/img]
