Fresh air flap motor
My center motor for the fresh air/recirculate was getting intermittent.
I took it apart and cleaned the contacts but it lasted for only a while. Since Porsche decided it should go to recirculate every time the car is shut off, it got activated a lot. I have no AC, so it is hot in the summer when there is no outside air. I finally applied 12V to the 4 and 5 contacts and got it set to outside air and then unplugged the connector. I was afraid the heat might not work well, but it seems to be ok. There don't seem to be any more of these units available, and it is different on the 993.

Where have you tried to source a replacement?
They're still available on quite a few online stores, but not cheaply.
I think they're also on eBay for ~ $450.
You might do well to put a WTB notice on the bird forums, there are usually second handers available for a modest amount.

hawk911, please tell me how an open fresh air intake would let water in, and if so, where.
As far as I know, the fresh air flap does not close when it's raining, and the inlet is well drained. I've never had any water in my passenger compartment in rain.
Cheers,
Tore
