Default Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce myself...

Hi there, I've had a unique 964 since the end of last year, but only just got around to joining the forum. I've had a three 911s before; a RHD 71 T in red, a LHD 72T/E in Viper green and a RHD 73T with S pack and Recaros.
I stepped up to the 964 the moment I saw it. A good friend of mine deals in Porsches and VWs and he turned up at my house one day in a car he'd just picked up. He hadn't even got out of the car before I'd decided I had to own it. I had never seen one in the colour it was painted and I fell in love.
The story is that it was ordered new by a multi-millionaire who'd had a 72 911S painted in special order 341 Flieder - or Royal Purple as it's also known. So when it came to ordering his new Porsche money was no object - he wanted what he wanted so made a special order for a one-off 964. It's got elements of the RS, but as he lived on a small island between England and France called Jersey and liked his luxury he ordered the car to his spec. So, firstly there's the one-off paint colour, Royal Purple, then there's the big red brakes and vented discs, RS suspension, 17" Cup 1s (not currently fitted as they have just been restored) RS carpets, RS steering wheel, exhaust. The car has black leather, electric windows, sunroof, air-con, Blaupunkt Toronto, headlight washers. Due to spending the first five years on the island and the last owner only using it between 100 and 300 miles for the 8 years he owned it - it's only done 58,000 miles.
It drives fabulously, I absolutely love it and have trouble not using it! I hope you like it.
Oh, and I had a decal made for the rear window which is a rip off of the Public Enemy logo. I was looking an an old PE decal and thought to myself 'I could change the word Public to Purple...' And the rest, as they say, is history. From then on the car became the Purple Enemy!

I hope to be able to join in on more posts in the future and look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!

Welcome and congratulations for the magic car you picked! It's stunning!!!

The only thing I don't like is RS logos on non-RS cars... what for?

Ciao

Welcome, I like it a lot!

Ciao bella Anto, Grazie! Io non ho montato distintivi. Erano già sull'auto. L'auto ha molte caratteristiche di RS era un ordine speciale da Porsche

Hi Laker, and thanks for the warm welcome. Yup, the colour is a whole different purple. I am fortunate to have a good friend called Boris Schmidt who works at Porsche Engineering Group, Weissach and his father was involved in the 964 3.6 engine project. He ran the car through the records for me and the colour code L999 is 'special order match to customers sample.' There's a silver paint code decal on the RHS (from the front) on the inside of the trunk and it has Flieder 341 on it. Boris is sure it's a one-off. I am confident it is - most certainly in this spec and Right Hand Drive. Whatever, now I've found it - it's going nowhere- well, not without me behind the wheel. Thanks so much for the double wow - that's exactly what I though the moment I saw it for the first time.

I am in Surrey, but Godalming not Woking. I can't say I know Merv, sorry. Then again, I have the memory of a goldfish - so don't quote me on that

Any 964 is special in my opinion, but thank you for your comments! I can't wait to meet up with a few like-minded owners.

Welcome and congratulations. You found a beautiful car! What are your plans for the car? Will you keep it as is or are there any planned mods? And how will you be using the car? Street, drivers ed, racing, concours, all of the above?

Cheers, I have to say I didn't realise I liked purple Porsches until I saw it. I have always liked 964s - when they first came out I thought they were cool and had classic modern retro looks. Unlike the period from '74 to '89 which I have to admit I suffer from total Porsche blindness.
Before I have my head covered with a hood and I am lead out to the gallows; I must state the case for the defence and say... I didn't fit the badge, or the original RS parts - this is how it came to me. Since buying the car I have changed the parts which lack of use had taken its toll; the power steering lines, the majority of the oil lines, battery and had a full service (although it hadn't clocked up the mileage) by my old friend Jez Parsons and Porsche specialist at GCS Engineering/Carrera Peformance in Horsham.
At least I can read what it says on the lid, Carrera is a bit of a long word for someone of my level of intelligence. When I get time I'll take some more photos, so you can see the rest of it.
