Default Homemade heater bypass tube

I'd like to do the RS style rear fan bypass but I cannot imagine spending $200-$300 for the tube, part number 993-211-941-00.

I remember seeing a few posts a while back where folks made their own tube using flexible ducting. I tried searching but could not find the links.

Does anyone happen to have these links handy? Thanks!

I copied ian89c4's heater bypass mod...it was worth the $20 to try it at least.

- I used 3 inch flexible automotive hosing (2 feet long?)
- Fits great on both ends and was very easy to cut small holes for the vent tubes (no tape needed).
- Fits perfectly at the top of the fan shroud..perfect diameter match and only requires a thin clamp to hold it in place.
- I added 1/2 weather stripping at the other end, and a simple clamp.
- The flexible plastic material is pretty strong, so after cutting small holes for the vent hoses, put can push the hoses on.
- 8 months without any issues (back to stock in '12)
- $20 total cost.

Awesome, thanks! If you don't mind me asking, why did you revert back to stock?

The 3 inch flexible hosing fits very nicely, you will be happy with how well everything fits together.
My problem was that I wasn't 100% satisfied with my relay set up...

Roger that. I'm a bit nervous about the wiring myself but I think I will give it a try using Anto's 1 wire solution:

Anto method works find I just made it and confirm, the 30 amp fuse to be removed is in that black box at the rear, ( only 3 fuses there ) I would say the hard bit is to pass the wire throught the grommet and remove the coil cap could be a little bit hard...a part from that it's done in 15 minutes, the picture he posted helps a lot ....

Good luck

K
