Default Cab top alignment. Need help please

Howdie guys. I"ve not been to this forum in some time. My car let me know I need to pay more attention to her. So, while attempting to put the top down (open) I immediately noted it was opening ****-eyed. Turns out the driver side cable was not being turned by the motor. I did some quick surgery, cut off 1/4 inch off the plastic tube to expose more cable. Well, now it was all off wack and took time to synch both motors. I tighten up all the nuts on both transmissions. Here's the problem:

when I go to close the top, once it passes the upright position there seems to be alot of slack before the mechanism engages. As a result the mating surface of the top slams onto the top of the windshield where previously it would slowly approximate itself and close gently. Is there somewhere I should be tinkering with to pick up this slack? Anybody with step by step instructions on how to approach this?

thanx a million

Jaime
