964 C4 quick shifter

As rare as rocking horse ****e. Same with shorter gear sets.
I have seen one short-shifter kit for a C4 but there is a piece, along the shift tube/linkage that hangs down below the body pan. It makes it the lowest and most exposed part of the underbody. I'm not interested in that.
One solution is a custom short shift kit. That would be hugely expensive and I wouldn't know where to begin.
For what it's worth I have been in a 993 engined car with LWT flywheel, custom gears. It completely changed the personality of the car.
Cheers

Any portion of the shifter that is allowed to protrude below the pan is an incorrect installation. While I have no direct experience with the C4, this sounds exactly like bogus advice I received about short shifter installation on my MY90 C2. I had been told two separate but different yet equally stupid methods of installation. 1. Dimple the pan with a ball peen hammer to make the lower end of the shift lever clear or 2. cut a hole in the pan. Neither method addresses the actual issue. In the case of MY90 cars the mount holes in the forward and rear walls of the box for the shifter assembly are round for the support tube bushings. In later models years the bushing is more oval in shape and the support tube hole is offset to one side of the mount bushing. These bushings gets inverted which raises the entire assembly and then will clear the body pan without any strange body work. The thing that others with MY90 cars miss is that the bushing holes need to be opens up to match the oval shape of the later style bushing. Once that is done the later bushings can be used to execute a correct install. It is my hunch that the C4 could be similar. The fact that few applications are listed does not necessarily mean it cannot be made to work with minor modification. My 1990 car is not part of any of the application lists of both factory and aftermarket shifters but once the real problem was identified and corrected then it will function perfectly. I have done just this over 5 years ago and my car is a daily driver and has not given me a single problem.

Short shifter for the C4 is the same replacement lever as the C2, but without the revised pivot
As above you need to dimple the undertray as it drops the bottom of the lever a little
Its a factory part and not particularlly expensive, around £65.00 in the UK inc tax

That's the one. I remember seeing the picture of the modified undertray.
It may work on stock SUV ride height, but I'm at RS +10mm and wouldn't want to take a chance.
