Hi Steve,

I tried to call yesterday, but was too late in the day in the US. Tried again now, and realised you have a public holiday I think! I am already in tomorrow, and will call you on the 5th, or a.m. on the 6th Australia time. Once we work out what is wrong with the 964 suspension, can we check out the flux capacitor on the Delorean? Footnote, I think it was July 2012 when Marty McFly returned to the future.

Seriously, I look forward to catching up, I am very impressed with the work you have done on KaiB's car. I'm sure there is a reason for my wayward rear end.

Kind Regards,
AvdDrift

Hi Tony,

Sorry I missed your call yesterday; we were headed out a tad early and today is a National holiday. I'll be back on the 5th by 8:30 AM PDT (I'm on the West Coast).

I'd love to have a functioning flux capacitor for my own 911 since I have some trips in mind,...

I have some ideas about whats going on with your car, however I need to play "20 questions" with you to get to the bottom of this problem.

Talk to you soon.

FYI, I had ninemeister's RS rear trailing arm bushings installed along with elephant front bushings and noticed an enormous difference in high speed stability on track. Just my experience....

Of course, readers should realise that Tony has been coping quite well with the Weissach Effect: Club Champion 2011!

Well done Tony - put it to those GT3 guys!

Imagine how he'll run once the suspension is sorted out!!!

Maybe there's something to this whole "Drift" thing after all.

I have that cover hanging on my garage wall at home. Very proud of 2011. The car looks a bit different now, and I now have a full face helmet. It looks like iv'e swallowed a bumble bee in that photo.

I have made contact with Steve, and after a good conversation from Porsches to Pork, and the difference between a Wiener and a Weiner, he confirmed my assumptions that the tail happy feel (fizzledorfing) is in fact the "Weissach Effect", primarily caused by street car design + ageing rubber joints + sticky tyres. Ultimately, the bench top setup of camber and toe is rendered irrelevant as the geometry is squeezed out of shape by greater forces than the design can cope with.

The cure: Steve has recommended replacement monoballs and spring plates for instant relief, plus a plan for suspension upgrades and improvements to bring the car up to GT-3 killer status. Big step! But fun trying.

Thanks for the input from all, especially the heads up from KaiB and Steve Weiner.

I'll also post a pick of my car as it is this year, and a rear view, showing what I think is the right rear wheel pointing the wrong way. Maybe my imagination,.

Kind Regards,
AvdDrift

van der Drift. That's a cool race car driver's name!

Good luck chasing GT3s! I love saying that...

How big of a performance difference is it between running a Powerflex bushing on the trailing arm versus a monoball on the trailing arm (assuming you're running a ERP mono-ball style spring plate on either setup)? How big of an impact on street driveablility does running the monoball have, versus the poly bushing? How about durability (dust, dirt, grime)?

Another set-up variable that is often overlooked is the "rake" of the car, it can effect weight transfer and aerodynamics......
