Like all have said get the PPI and most important get a leak down test !!! If all is well with that you will save a lot of money later and have more time to drive..and smile real big.
And do not listen to the color nuts Stone Gray Metallic really passes them all up "Look at my tall lights "

Not that this will come as a suprise based on the resounding chorus so far - but totally relax about the year and be very concerned about condition. Unless you're looking at a sub-50k kms garage queen - the odds of the "gasket" issue not having been done I think are trivial.
Far better to get a clean, solid car and have a fund for putting it "right" standing by.
Not enough changed from year to year to make s scruffy '94 a better deal than a mint '89.

In my opinion it is more important to choose between c4 and c2 rather than between model years.
And have a ppi done, it will get you a lot of info on a specific car for a small investment.

I agree with others, at this point in the car's history its best to find the car in the best condition and in a color that is on your approved list.

Little known fact: Porsches built in the 80's came with a 3-oz bottle of hair gel and a 1-gram bag of cocaine hidden in the front compartment. Just ask any Miami Vice fan.

Do a search - there is a specific engine number at which the gaskets appear.
Can't recall it at the moment. Mine was pre gasket and while I stressed about it the time, I just drove the living crap out of it anyway, and it's ld and c #'s were fine. it leaked, but don't all 160k km engines? ; )
