Default 18" BBS clones or 17" Cup 4's

Have two sets of wheels and am trying to figure out which I want to run. I know wheels are typically a personal preference thing but I thought I'd poll the rennlist brain trust

so:

Those BBS reps look great. Somewhat unique look on a 964, vs the 5 spoke/5 spoke variation wheels that so many 964s (including mine) wear.

My opinion is that they both look VERY aftermarket and cheap.

Just put cup 1's on your beautifull car and voila, perfection.

Ha!

Both look good.

Most people will choose BBS as they've seen the look a million times and it makes them feel comfortable. It has a race image. Jump outside of our car world and the BBS design looks kind of fussy (to non-car people). If I were to sit down a draw a wheel I don't think I've ever draw a basket weave design wheel...

I'd draw a meaty 5-spoke design instead...I like how the design copies a 996 TT rim, but the edges give it a much stronger look (instead of the 996 TT smooth edges). Plus the spoke design carries over to the edge of the rim, so a 17 looks like an 18 (as seen in the pics above). I've gotten lots of complements on my Cup4s...they always ask if they're 18s?

Great looking car! Nice to see the Cup4s on a lowered car....

Trust me I wanted Cup1s, but Tire Rack stopped selling the reps.

Plus people wanted too much for them and they usually needed to be refurbished...Cup1s have a classic stock look but they aren't that special.

BBS for sure. No contest.

I really want to put my BBS RS-GTs on my car, but have fairly new rubber on my 17" cup wheels and don't want to buy another set of street rubber. I think the 18" look great and love the weave look, but will have to live with the 17" cups for a while.

The bigger question that is even more important is "which wheels do you like best?"

we all know that the second set are one of the cheapest wheels in the world for a 964 ... so i would suggest the first option with the BBS lookalike.

Surprised at all the BBS love! Well sort of - figured there were a lot of fans. Too bad they weren't real...

They are 2-piece Merle. And swftiii, I'm leaning towards the clones but am still on the fence. Been driving the 17's for a few thousand miles so will keep the 18's in for a while.
