Yeah - I'd like to do a better flowing cat, but not lose it all together...And then I'd also like to keep my o2 senser and heat shields...

as for the cup pie or g pipe - I'm sure some have to be better than others - anyone have a clue which ?

Based on this thread, it sounds like I should be running the GPipe for autocross. Currently running with a cup pipe. I tried it with both bypassed, but it was too loud for a Cab, but still have the GPipe.

I guess that means I'll have an idle cup pipe if anyone's interested. One of the brackets is slightly cracked, but it's been on the car and OK for 2 years or so.

Unfortunately I finished late in the evening (and had to leave early for work) so I haven't heard it yet? The suspense is killing me... I'll be driving it to my in-laws tonight, we'll see what my mother-in-law thinks!
Hey Jamie what DID your Mother In Law think ?????

Hey RW,

I tried to quote my earlier thread, on page 2 (pre-install), with a response that should have showed up on page 3 (post-install). Instead I accidentally just changed my pg. 2 post...

As mentioned: everything fit perfectly, and tonight I drive over to my in-laws. I'm starting the car up as soon as I get home.

Hoping to HEAR some more lift off-throttle burble...

Filmed with GoPro Hero2. The car has EvoMS Intake and G-pipe.

Windows Movie Maker fuxored the audio regardless of what settings I used. The original video sounds deeper and doesn't have that clipping/rattle noise.

I just took off my g pipe and installed a cup pipe from vertex, I really like the cup pipe. The g pipe was much louder. The cup pipe sounds more throaty and I think my car runs a little stronger.

I changed my cup pipe out last night and installed the primary muffler and g-pipe. I took a video of each step, including with the cup and g-pipe installed at the same time. Took it out for a spirited drive afterward and didn't notice any change (aside from the lower note).

Babalouie - I seem to remember you had all kinds of fabrication to do to fit heat shields to your 100 cell cat....was that because you had to? Because you wanted to? Could the stock heat shields mount to that cat?

Why,...I can help you with that,... We can deliver as much as the checkbook will allow,...

Seriously though, its important to remember that the Cup cars using no cat and the primary muffler bypass, had close-ratio gears so the slight loss of low-end power from using the Cup pipe was no liability. Further, exhaust changes were accompanied by different software otherwise you are left with big peaks & valleys in the fuel curves which is not good for performance.

In short, everything has to work together to get the desired benefits.

Yes, it's because the brand of cat (DesitgnTek) wasn't very well made (it was possible that it was welded by Stevie Wonder, using a jig made from Play-Doh).

The intention of the cat manufacturer was that the stock heatshields would bolt up to it, but the whole thing was a little skewiff, and the heatshields would foul against various other things. So eventually I cut everything off and made my own.

I have a new G pipe. Put it on the car and decided it was too loud, so I took it off.

Does anyone know of a good sport replacement cat that works with the original heat shields? One that doesnt require any mods to fit right?

I'm tihnking I'll do a cup bypass, but while in there may as well change the cat. But dont want to eliminate the cat all together. no reason to destoy the air quality in the neighborhood for a tiny perfomance change, but my cat will need to be replaced soon anyway since it's got all kinds of stuff rattling in there...
