Very good
Coincidently, I have just bought a new bonnet seal. It is definately the cause of some leakage into mine - as diagnosed by Mark/Fuch
I got the old one off last w/e, just need to get rid of the old glue remnants & will fit the new one if it ever stops raining around here

Steve you can adjust the bonnet on the hinges, and the latch.
Ive noticed sum bonnets sit very flush and offers not so flush, mine dosnt fit as well as others iv seen, this caused the water ingress issue.

Can you remember if this resulted in water sitting on top of the carpet mats or underneath?
Cheers,
James

From memory, it was definitely underneath. Sponge under the driver carpet was soaked, and the same under the carpet behind the drivers seat. But I have no memory of the top of the carpet being wet.

Had the very same issue as Dave. Water was running down the inside of the door card and across the strip that holds the carpet underneath the door. We found it by drying all the carpet out then wetting the car outside while checking which part was getting damp first.
No visable drips of water but carpet was soaked.
Not a bad idea to replace them anyway, an easy DIY.
HTH.

How Long?
When I bought my car it had been sittin gin the salvage yard for a while. The capret was damp and water was standing underneath the padding. i tried looking everywhere and couldn't find the leak until I discovered that the plastic tray that covers the servo motors was tuked over the gasket for the boot, and not underneath. It funnled water direclty down the inner firelwall and underneath the carpet. Once fixed, it never leaked again.

Cheers bud. I had a feeling you were going to say that and at least know I'm working in the right direction. Although it always feels like it's one step forward and one step back when doing bonnet adjustments.

Thanks again for all the pointers. Car now at the garage and the sound deadening is hanging out in the sunshine. They've put a dehumidifier inside the car and once fully dry will investigate all areas mentioned here with a hose. Will report back with findings.

I have had same issue of water in rear passenger footwell on driver side (RHD)
It has been raining torrentially here for last week
Indy couldn't fit it in so at OPC now
Leak identified as blocked drains
This is the second cab i have had and both have had water ingress issues (996 and 997)
telephone module is wrecked too
surely this is design fault if many of us are suffering same problem

Got the car back last night and the issue seemed to be with the bonnet seal which I had replaced. A lot of water had collected in the right hand heater pipe which needed replacing also. Finally I had all the sound deadening replaced also at a not unreseaonable £193. It was at the indie for two weeks with their dehumidifier machine in the car to thoroughly dry it out. So far so good and fingers crossed with new window rubbers and unblocked sunroof drains that's the last of it.
Appreciate all the pointers from here.

Whilst we are on the subject of bonnet fit I have noticed that mine requires a lot of force to engage the bonnet catch whereas my 993 was just a gentle push down and would almost close itself. Is there a way to release the tension as I suspect the same issue of an irregular bonnet seal could be prevalent on mine. Although I have as yet no leaks etc
