I am in the market for all 3 pieces of engine tin and spoiler wall someday...
In the meantime I have shored my tin up with aluminium sheet, cheap to buy, sooo easy to cut and bend, won't rust, light...maybe would have enough longevity if you used thicker gauge and your fabricating knowhow..
You could look at the Ruf (with reverse light cut outs) and Rauh Welt (with cooling vents) rear reflectors for ideas.
My own suggestion is a engine cover/hood gas strut replacement that latches up and down, gets rid of need for (heavy) gas struts..maybe a little like the star wheel on a 356. These struts fail as a matter of course after a few years for every one as far as I see it, even the 'heavy duty' ones..you'd have the 993 market too. Would be a nice little design challenge...

As much as I love a real center panel, the insane cost of one would definitely put me in the market for a (hopefully) much cheaper substitute.

Here is the Ruf panel. It incorporates back up lights which I could do without. Fiberglass or abs plastic would work. Maybe make a mold from a center reflector? Is that even possible? I've never messed with fiberglass before so I wouldn't know.

I like all the ideas and will use this as a to do list I think I would like to do the engine tin first but need a sample or I will have to wait until I pull my engine to fix oil leaks this winter . I also will look into the rear panel as well

+ 1 on engine Tin, I have a rear (over the crank pulley) spare I can loan for fab/copy. I have de-rusted and painted mine so many times it is ridiculous. And most will ask for lots of $$$ to prep and powder coating the pieces. So go to town with the tin ware. Also a alternator fan would be a good fab, very pricey from dealer and they are all cracking at some point,..
