fuel cleaner/ additives please........
Hi,,
Just put my 965 back on the road,, I had some fuel in her from before the lay up, she's running okay but I won't go mad in the boost range until I know my fuel is fresh and the octane is good,, but I want to use a injection or fuel system cleaner in my optimax (petrol)just for a spring clean in there.
What do you recommend and why,, in the past I used millers but someone on here who works in the petro chem industry can put me right on the best product.
I don't need a fuel filter change less than 1000 miles on that, just want to make sure I clean and burn up any old nasty fuel in there before the kkk does it's job.
Thanks Gaz,,

Hey Gaz, I'm not to keen on these additives. I may be wrong and now doubt someone or everyone will correct me. The use of good quality oil and fuel shouldn't require any cleaners. Particularly with the engine, regular oil change with nothing added should be sufficient.
I know you are particular about your motors so wouldn't have thought you have to flush through with anything other than the fuel itself. There should be enough in the optimax to any internal cleaning.

BG 44K was recommended on 911uk - I bought some for £20 off ebay and will try it soon. My 964T has been sitting for a few months and was fine when starting up. But then I let the tank of fuel that had been sitting in there for 5mths get down to almost zero and now it really struggles to start. Going to try this BG stuff and see if that helps.

Wagon face she's whirling over great and starting,
I just want to clean the system, because this weekend were doing a run "porsches on the prom Llandudno" so it will be a lot of start stop driving and only little boost moments,so its ideal to get fresh fuel through the system and burn off any varnish in the fuel on that day.
I have done this with many other 911's for years, but I don't know every product
available and was hoping some fuel guru was going to chirp in and put us all right on the best product.
Only asking this daft question on here to see if my research was correct as I love a good debate and I do not know eveything!
Hey uk guys costco do they have the chevron stuff as my local one in chester doesn't have any web information of the products they sell? and I can only remember red x, I might make a trip there anyway tomorrow.
Thanks everyone

Three Wheelin'
Gaz,
I once got a bad batch of fuel in the turbo to the point where it didn't want to start or run. I was recommended Forte Gas Treatment by a Porsche specialist and told to put it in and run the car up the Motorway at 3000rpm for 15mins or as long as i could take. After a short while you could feel the car run better and then the advice was to top the tank and drive as normal.

(other suppliers are available/cheaper)
I use it every now and again and wouldn't use anything else.

Thanks Steve,,
I'll do that at 5am on saturday morning on the local stretch,,,"yes officer I know I was speeding" but this fuel additive bottle tells me to keep at 3,000rpm or 110mph until I reach Manchester for cleaner injectors
100% with you on that,, thanks again just searching a local supplier NOW!

When i bought my C2 the previous owner had used the Forte additive every year for 12 years. It was running so well i have kept up the routine and its still running perfectly.
