For Rennlisters who have gone the Bilstein route what color are your strut bodies? I saved a few bucks by piecing together mine but curiously one is a cad color and the other is silver otherwise they look the same. I believe the cad colored strut is nos while the silver body is newer stock. Any feed back is much appreciated. Tia.

Mine, which I just did are Silver, IIRC they are stainless steel.
I don't know what cad is. Yellow, I believe those are the color of Sports not the HD. if you a goldish color I have no idea.
The Sports, which they may have made once upon a time for the 964 have been discontinued or no longer available -- if ever -- are different than HDs.

I got mine some 9 years ago. They are Yellow, and at the time were referred to as HD's. There was no Sport offering when I did mine. Here is a listing for the current offering (I used a '90 C2 to search):

They are also referred to as HD's, but they look gold on my monitor.
Edit: The fronts look gold, the rears look silver.

Thanks guys...the part #'s are correct..left & right and it could be the older stock was cadmium plated for corrosion resistance but environmental concerns have probably led to the switch to the silver finish.
I tried calling the Bilstein dist tech dept on the West coast but ended up leaving a message. My concerns are/were a change in dampening quality or possibly bootleg.
Makmov,
I don't think they're stainless but i stand corrected...they both feel equally magnetic fwiw.

Not sure how to link to another thread, however I had this very same issue in 2008. If you do a search, type Bilstein Shocks under keywords and polar964 as author, there is some good info which was supplied by fellow rennlisters in answer to the same question as you are asking.
Hope this helps

Hi Mike, In the end a fellow member was happy to purchase them from me and I bought another set direct from a distributor in the UK. All 4 shocks were manufactured within months of one another and all had the same silver colour coating.
As you will have read on my original thread there appeared to be 2 years difference between manufacture of my original shocks.
The difficult I had was that I had purchased from over seas and therefore it was difficult for me to persuade the supplier to take them back.
If I were you I would check the serial numbers for date of manufacture and get your supplier to exchange them if the dates are different years. I would speak direct wiith Bilstein if you get no joy. Its not good for Bilstein if distributors are mixing and passing on old and new stock!
For your interest I also posted a thread 'Bilsteins now fitted'.
I hope you get things sorted.
