Default Oil change, now my valve are a lot noisier

Need help, did oil change today and my valves are now making a lot more noise and this on both sides.

Car background:

The last two oil change were done using Castrol Syntec 5W50.

Today I used Valvoline VR1 20W50 regular oil.

Now my questions:

1. Would that be caused because I went from Synthetic oil to Regular oil

2. Or is it because I went from 5W50 to 20W50

3. Any chances I could damage my engine

4. What can I do to fix this

Thanks,

I can't imagin even with the weight difference the oil change has anything to do with it unless like Shamus asked the oil level is low.

Oil level is OK both on the dipstick and on the gauge.

I guess I'll take it for a spin and see if the noise goes away when the oil pressure is higher.

Thanks for your replies.

Where is the oil pressure now? On a cold car, it should be up at 4+ at idle.

Like the others who just posted the oil is not the cause. Not enough would describe what you are hearing. Even if you put 0W-20 for a Honda Accord it would not make noise. If you drove it for 500 miles in 100 degree weather at 130MPH with lightweight (0W-20) then it would probably damage your engine and make some noise. Oil level in a 964 is a tricky thing to check. How many quarts did you put in after you drained? Did you drain from both the case and the oil tank when you did the change?

Vandit; Oil pressure when engine is cold is at 4+

90_C2_Cab; I did drain both from the case and the oil tank, I then added 7 litres to start and once my temp reached 9 o'clock I added 3 more litres for a total of 10 litres, both my oil gauge and my dipstick read right in the middle.

That is strange. It sounds like the level is good. After running it to operating temp does the sound go away or is the sound at start up so loud you're afraid to run it? If it was very cold out when you did the change and since the oil viscosity is thicker than what you had in there before I could see it being a little louder at start up for maybe 30 seconds or so but nothing that would be very noticeable. Was it really cold when you did the change and started it up?

I run VR-1 20w-50 in my car with a recent spot on valve adjust and it makes no valve nosie. I can't imagine it's the oil.

What kind of oil filter are you using?

90_C2_Cab; Temp was about 15 degree Celsius (59 F), i did not have any noticeable noise with 7 litres in the car but the noise started when the car was at normal temp and I had added three additional liters, I know it doesn't make any sense but that's the fact. It ain't that bad of a noise it is just that it wasn't there before.

Indycam; I might just have to do that.

When was the last time it had a valve adjust? They just shouldn't make noise if properly adjusted and lubricated.

I guess it could have been a coincidence.

What kind of pressure has it got warm?

Sounds like a global issue so you have to start looking at global causes.

"You say that Mobil 1 Racing oils are not for street use. Why is that? Does that mean I can't use these oils if my race car is also my daily driver?
Automotive street use oils that meet the latest industry standards are required to have a lower level of Zinc and Phosphorus anti-wear chemistries than oils formulated years ago. The latest automotive street use engine oils are designed to be compatible with emission control equipment. Mobil 1 Racing oils are formulated with anti-wear (Zinc/Phosphorus) chemistries at twice the level of automotive street oils to provide enhanced protection of highly loaded valve train systems found in some race engines. Based on the high level of anti-wear chemistries, Mobil 1 Racing oils are not recommended for street use."
