I want a Turbo, Selling my 964 Cab?
I haven't posted in a while but here’s my dilemma.
I have always wanted a Turbo 964 coupe. I bought my current 964 C2 Cab because it only has 26k miles and is in great condition and I knew the owners for the last 12 years. Still, I cannot get the turbo wide-body out of my thoughts. Am I crazy? Should I sell this beautiful Guards red 964 Cab and buy a 964 Turbo coupe?
Will I be able to find a Turbo coupe in as good a condition as my current car? I’m torn here. I love my car but the Turbo is calling to me. Who has a good one that wants to sell? Does anyone want a 26k mile Guards red C2 Cab in great shape?

It should be easy to find one in good shape. Most don't seem to be driven as much as regular coupes...lots of garage queens out there. Prices are high, but it's such a wonderful car. Do it!

Dan,
I was in the same boat.....I actually asked the same question on here as well last year.....I to have a low mileage (36,000+), fine example 1990 964 coupe...I looked around but did not find to many 964T for sale and the ones I did see that were the same shape/quality were very expensive or extremely far away.
The ones that were somewhat local (400 miles or less) were for sale for a long time which made me wonder why they did not sell.
I started to question myself was it worth stepping into something that most likely I will never know the complete history of and should I get rid of a car that I am completely familiar with and spend more money in the process....I gave up on that thought actually fairly quickly.....PLus I would have needed to get rid of my other car an (original 2004 Cobra) to be able to purchase the 964T.
Hope this helps....

My advice... keep the 964 cab & buy a 965. Best of both worlds !

Actually finding a nice 964 turbo is not as easy as you might think. Prices are up there for nice condition turbos. The 3.6's are commanding a premium especially sub 20k mile cars with most of them leaving the US. Like Mikes old Signal green posted above which is no longer in the US. The 3.3's are either highly modified with lots of track miles or are in excellent condition. Most owners know what they have and very few are selling right now. Because of the demand and so few being sold you may be searching for a long time. I would be ready to be without a Porsche for a good year if you sell your cab while you search for the perfect turbo at the right price.

i second cobalt on that.. have been searching for a while for that clean 3.6 but the prices out there aren't that encouraging, but a 965 is worth it.. good luck with your quest, id keep the cab..and like type911 said.. the best of both worlds..

keep the cab and get a Cayman S.
my 2 cents, the turbo is not significantly different than what you have. Yeah, more acceleration but after you are at speed it is just like your 964.

Both have their pros and cons although IMO saying they are similar is like saying a 944 and a 928 are similar.

Thanks for the input guys. I may be willing to spend the $$$ on the right car. I am looking for a coupe in very nice condition with less than 40k miles. I can't keep the Cab because I already have 3 cars so something would have to go. What is my Cab worth?

Not a dime less than what you'll settle for, and not a dime more than what someone will give you for it. That's exactly what its worth! Cheers, and BE CAREFUL !

no, I went out and drove 2 turbos, a 92 and a 96 and I just did not find the difference I was looking for. Then I drove the Cayman S and that was substantially different from my 92 964.
OP should drive a few and see if it is what he is looking for
