Default Door trim goop... yuck!

Over the past week or so i've noticed that the goop that holds the rear door trim in place, is now running down my rocker panel while depleting the upper portion of it of sealant. It's apparently getting hot and then able to flow out the bottom of the trim piece and then onto the rocker panel... which then gets on my jeans... sticky stuff.

What's used on this piece to seal it to the door, but still hold up to the hot sun? Want to make sure I get the right stuff so I don't have the same issue again.

Don"t those door edge protectors just press on without a "stickum" inside; hold on by friction alone? Seems it'd stay in place due to the minimal proximity of the door jam area of the body. ?

Thanks Vandit. I've been putting a lot of detailing time into it recently. Unfortunately, at times, it seems like a never-ending battle; pass window switch broke today. Until my new ones come in I'm forced to use my two DIY window switch bypass operators... Two bare wires lol.

Honestly I'm not sure. Now that you mention it though, that may be the case. The previous owner may have put some in there to keep it from coming off. Oh the trials and tribulations lol.

I've used this stuff on my door seals. It hasn't gotten super hot here yet, but I don't expect it to run.
