Default Is this a safe place for the jacks Stands?

I do not want to use the engine to jack my 964? not being able to find another spot to jack from I was forced to use the rear jack points but find an alternative jack stand spot.

Will this work? Is it safe? Ok for suspension?

See pics.

I say no. Put your jackstands at the jack points. Here is a concise description:

He's jacking from the jack points, so he can't get a jack stand on there simultaneously.

I really can't offer a better solution since I use the engine to jack the rear, leaving the jack points free for jack stands.

I have Wevo mounts, so I no longer have to worry about harming the mounts by jacking from the motor, however, when I did have my OEM (and dying) mounts, I did finish killing one of them by jacking from the motor. The ole mount basically spit out all its oil guts while jacking from the motor. Freaked me out at first.

+1 had never seen those before...

Does anyone have a diagram of points under the car that are safe to rest on jackstands that are not the jackpoints?

Can this be installed an a 964? See the bottom of the page...if so, i would install one just for ease...does anyone know what the difference would be between the 993 and the 964 in that spot?

The link I posted above in post #2 explains how to use a floor jack to put the car on Jack stands. You will need to put your floor jack under the crank case in order to do this.

Trying to support the car anywhere but the proper jack points is dangerous.

To be honest, It appears as though this might be a factory jack point. Their is a flat tab/lip and a hole here similar in size to the traditional jack point holes.

It's hard to see in my pic because of the hockey puck.

It's not, and no, not a good place for a stand. That is a good place for the stand to pop out.

Being on the suspension, it will move as the other parts of the car are lifted, or you change the loading. A really bad place for a jackstand.

It is not a factory jack point. The factory shop manual clearly indicates the jack points and states that you must only lift the vehicle by those points.

You are putting yourself and anyone who goes near your car at unnecessary risk.
