I bought New Bosch silver Brazilian coils to replace my old 22yr old ones, and had to swap back to the old black coils that were 22 yrs old. The new Bosch ones are ****, Car would not run on one dist. Def not a myth. Really wish there was a alternative.

I changed to silver bosch last week. So far they run great. Remarkable difference in throttle response compare to my old black bosch. I order from UK.
"but i tend to think the silver coil thing is a myth anyway"
Actually there were problems, but that was over five plus years ago.
I've verified a number of situations back then. Most likely Bosch fixed
the problem, as none have had problems for many years now.
From this I tend to agree as in my case I have been useing the silvers for over two years and not one arching problem....
But what happend is what the coil on the right looks like in the picture above but my coil was 3 times as bad but could not see it till you took the cap off this caused the Xmas Tree lighting show .. New coils and vroom vroom ...
I just put Bosch silver coils on and haven't had any issues...yet. I am very tempted to go buy two MSD blaster coils locally, but am not sure if it will damage my ignition. I used a MSD blaster coil on my 944 turbo for long time and never had any issues.
