Update on the spoiler module...

I'm behind schedule....I wanted to get the pcb's done by now but selling my residence has taken priority...it closes today, btw! But, I also travel for a work project for the next 45 days. So that's the latest. All progress in hardware and picaxe code will be posted on my rennlist site...

I've got one prototype module built and in the process of testing it.

Pictured is the one complete module, usb programming module, fixture for soldering the pins, and the pcb's.

FYI, if you have an older analog module, and want to change the spoilers retract/extend speed, this post will help>>>>>https://rennlist.com/forums/10038949-post52.html

That isn't the issue in my opinion. Its the "when" (time) at which it extends and retracts that is. I'd be interested in one of those programmable units that takes care of that issue. If that is what you are working on, PM me.

^^Alex, you arent interested in the speed it deploys but the time?? Makes no sense to me!

Mr Mojorising, thanks for the update, still subscribed and looking forward to hearing progress...I am baffled how you would even start to create the stuff in the pictures you posted and I take my hat off to you...

Does it make sense to extend at whatever speed it is programmed to, even if you are only blipping into it for a few seconds? Nope!

The speed shift or programming is an easy mod. The right way to do it is taking time into account.

A quick solution that may need some tweeking since I am not a programmer, but in general, I want the spoiler to extend only if I will be in the "speed above 80 km/h" condition and based on the past minute or so, it appears that I will continue being in that condition. The speed at which it extends can be selected based on preference, but the logic remains the same.

The same would apply to the "retract" mode. I do not want it to retract if I am coming to a 4-way stop on a country road and then accelerating back to my cruising speed.

For example....
Start of day - spoiler down.
Poll speedometer: is speed increasing through 80 km/h?
If NO - do nothing - do not activate spolier.
If YES - start timer.
Poll speedometer: is speed still above 80 km/h?
If No - reset.
If YES - has timer counted more than 1 minute (or whatever is chosen)?
If YES - extend spoiler.
If NO - continue counting and poll speedometer.

Oh, I see. That's pretty clever to think of that..
..do you think Porsche have thought of that?

I guess it would only need to be 5 seconds or so to reduce the effect of briefly nudging deployment speed..

Actually, in the code there is a counter for a delay on extension/retraction.

Mojo, sometime back I offered to be one of the testers for this (Mac and/or PC). Do you have those 4 testers already lined up?

Hamah,

Once I test the design and know it's ready for prime time I'll go through this post and contact the people who showed interest in a module - you're one of them. I'm now on a work related project and won't resume testing for about 45 days.....

You've seen my post about the mod. to the analog module?

In the manner I described a few posts up? Can you provide details?

BTW, what is S1 used for?

Will the module be user programmable?

After removing the module from the car, moving the switch S1, and plugging in the usb dongle to the header on the module, you can program it. For the next month and a half my goal is to come up with various libraries of code - switch only, no speed input - switch to extend, speed to retract - delay on extend, etc.

example of code from cotown is here>>>>http://members.rennlist.org/mojorizing/content.htm

I'm using a picaxe 14M processor.

I would also be interested in the module. Have a Mac so should be programmable with this.

Keep up the good work All good things take time!
