Mojorizing I'd be very interested in this module. Any idea of what it will cost?

Me too - subscribed. My commute sees the spoiler up and down 4 or 5 times in 10 miles..

I'm sure the cost will be better than the original Ruf option -$2.75 post free or whatever for the USB interface is a promising start (how do they make these things for so little money??)

I'll just reiterate that I am interested in one...man someone is going to get rich here...lol...never imagined so many people would want to change the spoiler timing...but seriously - couldnt the factory have thought it through?

maybe it was an eighties (leftover) gadget thing - SOOOOO COOOL - LOOOOK it goes up and down like magic...ALL THE TIME!!!

were we really that easy to please back then?

"But I did prototype a circuit using the cheapest USB to TTL module on ebay to program the picaxe."

That's great. So you verified full functionality when connected to the Porsche
wiring, i.e. the spoiler moves up/down at the preset speeds when driving,
& the manual switch can control the movements, right?

I'm only making 5 modules for the initial run, and I'm keeping one. The other four will go to interested parties at my cost + shipping + $20 with the understanding that it's a prototype. I will have the schematic and pcb layout available for review before hand. One of the 4 initial users has to be a Mac user to test the software and usb driver for that platform.

The spoiler module will have to be out of the car with the usb module plugged into the programming header to be re-programmed.

The functionality of the module's program will be verified by the user.

For the rest you you guys that are interested in this mod...let's keep it simple.

Pull the two contacts and tape over them...done. Spoiler stays down below 76 MPH. If the spoiler extends, you must manually lower the spoiler at any speed below 76 (if you want to).

"The functionality of the module's program will be verified by the user."

What? And how about the electronics?

Don't troll, Loren. I respect your knowledge and frequently recommend people to you when they have DME or CCU issues but if you don't have something of value to add you really should just leave it alone.

If you have legitimate concerns please simply articulate them and leave the condescension at home where it belongs.

This is a homebuilt piece of electronics being sold in a small run; if the buyers don't realize they're beta-testers that's their problem. Most of us are happy to see someone finally addressing in a cost-effective manner (that RUF module does NOT qualify...) something that's long been a source of frustration for some.

Again, I give you props where you earn them- your commentary on the recent 965 coil thread was invaluable and much appreciated, but honestly- you're your own worst enemy sometimes.

And what was expressed here?

"The functionality of the module's program will be verified by the user."

"What? And how about the electronics?"

So the user has to develop and troubleshoot the device just like the
device "developed" for the 993 to avoid the SAI problem, i.e. that
went nowhere, right? So come up with an idea, propose it on Rennlist,
kinda test some of it, and propose a build for Rennlist members without
a FULL evaluation. That's great!

So let's hype something that's NOT fully developed AND evaluated and
then waste Rennlister's time and potential money. And how about the
low cost 993 programmable DME ECM replacement on the 993 forum
that went nowhere also. At least Cowtown's unit was FULLY workable
before presenting it to Rennlist.

Sorry if some don't like challenges to unresolved issues!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW mojorizing I'd also be happy to be paying trialist, mines an 89 so might be interesting.

However I suspect the postage to the UK may mean it's not cost effective.

Anyway hat-tip for the time and brain power you've applied so far, it is appreciated.

Yeah, hardly. 900+ posts between here and Pelican (porterdog), not to mention the 2000+ on Miata.net (porterdog), 250+ on SigForum (porterdog), etc, etc...

'Hiding' is the worst thing you can accuse me of? I was always taught that ad hominem attacks were a sign of intellectual weakness...

Why so bitter all the time? Seems like you got it pretty good, really.
