Default Modified car insurance

It's come to that point in the year where I am having to renew my insurance. I'm using all the compare insurance websites, my question is - what do you say when it comes to insuring your modified 964?

Do you list everything from your sports steering wheel to your uprated suspension?

Or do you state unmodified?

I'm currently with Admiral.

On the Skyline I always declare everything, although with the 964 I'd count my bilstiens and H&Rs as "stock".

My 964 is on classic insurance, nd the skyline is similar age so theoretically could also but I found most wont insure as a classic if its modified.

the usual suspects are people like adrian flux, footman james but like i'd say worth trying some classic insurers see if they're cover your mods.

I declared everything to my current insurers and there was hardly any difference in the quote. I'm of the opinion if you tell them about everything they can't try and stitch you should it come to a payout

Adrian flux for me though prices are going up so may look elsewhere...everything declared because if they can find an excuse not to pay...they will ;-)

Am currently on limited milage as it's a weekend car - I'll try those ones, thanks.

Classic Line for me too

Limited to 5K miles a year on classic, which is more than fine for me. No worries about my mods.

Classicline for me too, for both cars.......only downside is they don't offer trackday cover (at least not when I enquired last year!)

I'm just going through the same. Performance Direct have come out best for me (they pop up through confused / comparethemeerkat etc.).

I can't normally get classic cover because of the mileage required. But Performance Direct have just introduced a higher mileage allowance for classic cover (apparently).

Blimey, I thought Admiral would kick the car into touch if it had any substantial modifications.

I've had my car insured through RH Insurance for the past few years and they are pretty understanding about modidfications at a very reasonable price with agreed valuation etc etc.

I have now just switched to Henderson Taylor as they offer 5 track days inclusive in their policy for a modest premium increase but again are not afraid of fairly heavily modified cars.

Regarding any modifications - I would come clean about everything non-factory on the car, just write a list and email it to the insurance company and request confirmation that they are happy with the mods after the initial quote.

Drop me a PM if you want any specifics.

Cheers

Do Classicline require a car to be garaged for a classic policy? I found it hard to get a classic quote without garaging the 964, which I currently can't. Mine is on an everyday policy through A-Plan and has been for 5 years now. Must say they are excellent and do make the effort to get my quotes down. Still, at 41 and with no points on my license, £650 per annum is bloody painful. I was looking forward to the benfits of ageing!

Where in the country are you?

I'm 37 and am just about to renew mine for £317 with an 8,000 mile allowance (sub £300 without legal).

Mine's garaged but surely that wouldn't make that much of a difference? Maybe it does.
