The CAE shifter IS EXCELLENT. Shifts are short, extremely positive, and having the **** positioned that much higher makes any issues with fumbling around a non-issue. I like it a lot.
My point of reference is a G50 shifter in an '87 Carrera.

Thank you very much! Not my best driving ever as I was/am still getting used to the car, but I was able to gradually build speed as the weekend progressed. This was close to the end.
Just wanted to provide an update on the car for anyone who is still interested.
Our 3.9l NA engine suffered a rod failure in 2017 at the HSR race at VIR in June. Following this we decided to bring the car back to it's historical 1995 configuration, including bodywork and engine.
A twin turbo ("biturbo" in the language of the day) engine is being constructed, and original front end bodywork (bumper and fenders) from DP Motorsport has been installed. The car will be attending Rennsport Reunion VI and racing in Class 7 (964 up through modern cars). Here is a picture of the work in progress.
