This will always happen to that part if you don't reinforce it

Just make some room by removing surrounding parts like muffler, bumper, etc. and replace other stuff that is turning into junk while you're in there. My engine carrier was really bent, now reinforced too.

Side Note - I still have a lightly reinforced engine carrier sitting around- PM me if anyone is interested - it's burning a hole in the basement....

Thanks all. Done! I ended up going ahead and taking the bumper off to make it easier to deal with the rear tin. The extra 15 minutes was well worth it. I think I'd still be out there swearing at the tin if I hadn't done it with the bumper off. Much easier. Here are a few pic's...

Engine carrier after welding on Rennline reinforcement plate and painting.

All parts painted and installed.

New Wevo mounts... The old ones were toast.

Thanks again for the pointers!

Does anyone have photos of the engine bay before and after? I've recently done a bunch of work to replace valve cover caskets, timing chain cover gaskets, etc. only to realize after the fact that my engine seems to hang down a bit towards the right side. Did anyone notice a tilt to a particular side? I guess this is easier to notice on the turbo as the intercooler provides a horizontal surface that can be used to gauge the level. I recently replaced my motor mounts to RS type so I know those are good.

A bent carrier wouldn't cause a tilt, at least not a significant one. Just poke your head back there or feel around to see if your carrier is broken or something has gone wrong w/ the motor mounts.

I put one in my '74 to replace the very fubar'd bar. Surprised they don't make one for the 964, could only find the weld on reinforcement kit.
