At TPC Racing, we have always specialized in turbos. In the 1990's, converting the 964 to a turbocharged track monster was a popular thing to do and we built many of these cars that still run today. This car was one that we just freshened up the engine and broke in on the dyno. It made an impressive 520WHP!

Out of curiosity, the air/fuel ratio seems a bit lean, running near 16-to-1. I thought the AFR was supposed to be closer to 14- or 14.7-to-1.
Am I missing something?
Also, more details! What was done besides the turbocharger to get that much horsepower?

Amazing car and gobs of torque already available at 3k.
Based on the video it looks as if this car is a lighweight built. The doors are either fiberglass or other lightweight material. With a car roughly 500 lbs ligher than stock hp goes up rather quickly with this type of turbo mod.

Very cool, must be a blast to drive.
In danger of sounding ignorant here, but why are turbo kits for the 964 so extremely expensive? Turbo's themselves run in the neighborhood of $500, give or take a few hundred (more so give than take), and I understand there is piping and headers to consider along with software and engineering the kit. But really, the 10k neighborhood? Am I alone in thinking that this is just crazy? What is it about these kits that makes them impossible to market at around the 5k range?
Disclaimer: I'm not trying to high jack this thread, but it seems like the right place to ask.

I am friends with the current owner of this car and got to drive it on the track a few times. The power delivery is silky smooth and it's easy to get to ludacris speed before you know it. Not only is it fast, but the setup on it makes it a joy to drive fast. TPC definitely knows how to build air cooled monsters.
