- Flash works with the ignition on or off.
- Pull the headlight lever and you get an immediate flash...continue to hold the lever back and the light gets a little brighter after a second.
It rained last night...so I had to jump in the car and test out the lights. At first I as hesitant, the car was super clean and I have never thought "gee it's cold, dark and raining...good time to go out for a spirited drive?" Actually it's was great time, no one was out and I can SEE now.
Spent a lot more time driving with just the low beams on.
Remember, just one light working. The low beam light was great, actually very little difference on the road surface immediately in front of the car, just less on the driver's side and less distance up the road. This probably makes sense to the guys that built it...maybe there's little overlap between the two projectors?? They didn't tell me, so I don't know...I'm just the test driver. Ha, ha.

Truth is you're the smart one... to enjoy a sorted stock car as is would be the smart thing for most of us to do!

Thanks for the interesting reply .. there is some logic to your reply, but why upgrade the lights in preference to the suspension? I didnt read every word in this thread .. perhaps the lights were a freebie from someone.
My 964 with stock suspension & cheap tyres was super-slow:
- slower than my old 924 porsche by 2 seconds
- slower than a Honda Integra Type R by 8 seconds
- slower than a stock WRX by 11 seconds

Where did you buy the light kit? Is it an OEM thing? How much?

I am very interested as I will be using my new C2 as a daily driver and come next winter will probably want a light upgrade as I drive twisty dark mountain roads in my commute.

As of last night, I think we've got the problem solved...
The wiring on the 964 is a little different than the torsion bar cars, so once we accounted for that and got past the hurdle...we had working low and high beam lights. AND, because I love to say it, "flash to pass" works too.
We tested the lights with the car on and off and everything seems fully functional (in the garage). Looks like I'll be doing some night driving in the next couple of days...
Part of the testing process is to work through issues like this. Everything will be plug and play when it's ready.

There is a big hole in the left front headlamp of my C2. Looks I can get the front lens replaced for $150 at Pelican but would rather go full upgrade to HID.
I think I want to make sure these HID lights are better that going with new bulbs and cleaning the reflectors if necessary on the car. My wife and I loved the HID lights on the Audi A6 wagon we used to own compared to the halogens on the wagon she now drives.

Thanks for following along while I tested the HID lights.
So with my test coming to an end, here's a rundown on what I’ve experienced:
- With the wiring correctly sorted, I've been driving around for the past 5 days with everything working perfectly
- Low/high and flash to pass all work like stock
- The lights feature 46mm Bi-xenon Projectors with a crisp OEM cut-off line on low beams and a full pattern on high/flash beams
- The kit will be 'Plug and Play'; you connect the HID system to your stock headlight wiring connector
- NO cutting of the headlight buckets
- NO cumbersome remote locating of the ballast behind the fenders
- NO wiring modifications required
There is only ONE problem I've discovered...(it’s not actually a problem with the lights) if you currently us H5 lights (like me), you will need to purchase a pair of H1/H4 style rings with the lights.
It's been a great experience communicating with the guys who are making this kit. They are very passionate about all of their products and are working hard to improve our old cars. I've been lucky to be able to hangout in the garage while they work...I've been even luckier to join along on some nice drives in the local twisties!
Safely of course is the most important benefit of these lights, but I wasn't prepared to see so well that it made night driving fun again...
Now it's time to give back the lights...I'm crying. These lights make a HUGE difference on the backroads where I live. They really are that awesome!
