Literally having my car for about 2 weeks after getting home from Afghanistan, someone decides to not watch where they were going and side swipes me.
Insurance is working itself out, but what do you think damages will be cost wise?
It was a horrible day.

(with tonguw firmly planted in cheek and making the assumption that you werent in a'stan for the sights) I would suggest that if you have buddies who have also just returned from Afghanistan that you pay a "courtesy visit" to the plonker who damaged your baby - heavily geared up and with mean looks ;-) suggest firmly that they look where they are going or the may suffer the same fate as Osama !:-))))))

When my BMW 335i was 3 days old and only had 47 miles on it some loopy b!tch backed into it in the parking lot and put a nice dent in the rear fender. She said "Oh I think I hit your car". You think? $3000 and a month later I got it back. Since it was a lease there was $600 for that month that I'll never get back. Her insurance company paid for my rental car for a month and it was a Dodge Caliber or some POS I can't remember but I HATED that car!
Point is I feel for you bro!

This totally sucks. I hope you get a quality repair completed in a timely fashion.

If it's confined to the door, that would be better of course. Just be sure that affected panels are replaced properly and make darn sure the shop takes great pictures of the work as it proceeds and that proper Glasurit paint is applied (with or without clear).
I'd also try to go with a shop that doesn't report to Carfax, although unless you cover it yourself it'll have to be reported to DMV etc. It's nice to be able to tell a prospective buyer about the work rather than never hearing from them because of a Carfax notation.

I'll get some more pictures in the light, but the door looks like a clean big dent. The fender has a pretty good bend in there though, so that would need to be replaced. I'm going to have to find a good body shop in the Seattle area.
As for the diminished value, I'll have to look into that one. I really plan on having this car for a long time, so it's only really affected to me.
