Have you removed/deleted your A/C? -- 964

Has anyone just removed the compressor and the two lines running on top of the motor?

Yep and yep.

Comp and lines came out three months ago, the rest is happening as we speak, along with the rest (i.e. all of) the HVAC system.

I did. Had the compressor removed first but then removed the two engine bay lines when I upgraded my suspension. Needed to cleanup the engine compartment for shock canister lines.

Me to. Everything is gone except the evapurator behind the fuel tank. What do you need to know? The compressor bracket is also cut of in the correct way as in cars without A/C.

Thomas, I was thinking about just removing the compressor and the two lines that run on top of the motor.

Where do these lines connect before running to the front of the car?--wheel well?

Thanks for the pic Pantera.

Kai, when will Steve be posting pics of your car?

ja78911sc, your very welcome. My hoses disconnected from the inner fender well. I left the remainder of the system in tact just in case someone wanted to rehook the a/c back up.

Dan,

This is my thinking as well. I do not have any plans to sell my car but when/if the time comes the future owner could have A/C.

As these cars become older and no longer daily drivers, I often wonder how much of a factor A/C will be on the resale value. I personally never use it.

The disconnects are easy to get to; remove the left rear fender liner and you'll see. Be sure to clean and tape them up well to insure no contamination gets in the system - both parts, that which came out and that which remains.

Check with the EPA at both the federal and regional level, the State DEQ, county and local environmental regulators, as well as your neighbors and well meaning passers by before discharging the coolant.

Just sayin'...

LOL. I will be evacuating the system first via a A/C charging machine--I called Al Gore and he approves

I am too doing the same with the compressor and 2 lines. Anyone has picture of the inner fender where the lines connect? Are they hooked to hard lines?

Thanks

You don't really need a picture beyond pondering the operation on a Sunday...

There are two simple unions inside the fender well, easy to get to after the liner (4 bolts IIRC) comes off.

Less than five minutes total time.

Ok great, thanks KaiB. I was not sure if the lines were seperated by a joint in the fender well or all in one up to the front.

Thanks
