I know Europeans don't think much of them because there was no horsepower boost but in this country, it's also always been about production numbers. The '74/'75 Carrera being an example that had the 'look' but not the R.O.W. horsepower, values stayed low in the sub $30K range until recently and now are selling in the $50K range ... I suspect it's just the beginning of the push upward because there were only a few hundred brought into the U.S.

The Euro RS is a different animal altogether. They should start making their way over legally to the US in the next 4-5 years. The RSA and C2 are way different to the RS in many ways. To my mind, that will be the car to own, read 73 RS DNA.

My understanding is that once a period of time from the manufacturing year has expired (20-25 years) not sure which, the cars will be allowed into the US. At that point they are considered classics and fall under a different provision of the law which make it much easier to import. I pasted a section below from a website I was checking out. They mantion Canada, but I do beleive this applies to any offshore car. I also heard somewhere that they are trying to change the time frame back to 20 years from 25.
There are some great Classic cars that have turned up in Canada over the years, and many rarer examples of certain marques were exported in droves back in the boom of the early 90's. Now the tables are turning and people within the US (flushed with Internet riches) are looking abroad to find the cars of their dreams!
The law says: "any motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old" is not subject to importation restrictions. All vehicles less than 25 years old must be determined eligible for importation by one of the following methods before the vehicle may be imported under contract with a Registered Importer as described in the Vehicle Importation Guidelines.
Generally speaking, if the vehicle you are purchasing is a Classic Car for your personal use and
not for resale, you should have no real problems with importing and registering it in the States. However, if you are looking to import a late model exotic or specialty car, either for your personal use or with a view to possibly selling it on, you really ought give one of the 'Registered Importers' listed below a call to find out what's involved.

Yep, 2017 marks the year all the 92 RS's can be imported without conformation to federal safety or emmissions standards....
Myself, I'm counting the days until I can import an Audi RS 2

Federalizing a car before the time is up can be a very expensive, mind numbing process. That blue car was federalized by a friend in Oregon before he sold it along. He said he would never do it again.

Those who were smart enoufh to buy an RS2 about 4 years ago have driven their cars absolutely free. These cars cost the same now as they did 4 years go.

Red ones do. My RSA actually has factory selected and balanced rods and pistons - as well as true 11/1 heads!
It is a little known fact that this occured with these cars during the short period btw. July and Nov. of '93.
