Porsche Club NSW 2011 Concours pics
The NSW Porsche Club held its annual concours today, and it was a really popular event.
Venue was the Armory, which is a quiet corner of the massive Homebush Olympic Park facility, which was built for the 2000 Sydney Olympics and today is basically a huge park.
The 964 was entered in the 964/993 Wash and Polish category. Wash and Polish is by far the most popular. Basically you are judged only on exterior and interior, so under carriage and engine bay are not in the equation. Here you see the 964 has an illustrious neighbour, nothing less than a 993 Turbo S.
But Hark! What's that?
964 Carrera RS, with just 15,000km on the clock!
So much lower than a regular 964
That was it for the 964-series except for a 964 Speedster..
...unless I missed someone, it was just the three 964s in the 964/993 class.
Relatively speaking, there were maybe eight or nine 993s....half of which were RS's!
As you would imagine, the most popular class was for 80's impact bumper 911s.
The red 930 closest to the camera came 3rd in the category, and the red narrowbody next door took 1st.
Here's that red 930 again...just gorgeous.
Got Ruf widebody? Oh yes, yes we do.
The one on the right here is a very rare Carrera 3.2 Speedster. Notice how the windscreen is a lot lower than usual, there is no quarter window, and the comvertible top is kinda hunchbacked. There was also a 964 Speedster too.
There were also a lot of trade stands, food stalls and a live band, so this was a pretty well organised show.
At the top of the tree, were three cars in the Concours Masterclass category.

If you win the Concours section, you are automatically pushed up to Masterclass the next year. A standout for me, was a 944 S2, which was factory-perfect, right down to the satin-sanded finish on the exhauts system.
And yes you could eat off it
Overall winner of Concours Masterclass was this scrumptiolicious 930.
Apparently it's kept in a glass partition in his living room, and when it looks this good, why not
The car that came second in masterclass was this 356 Speedster
So clean...
Another really nice 356 was this one, which was in the Wash and Polish Category
Amazing sanitary interior
One of the 356s whose bodies were built by Reutter Karosserie for Porsche. Porsche absorbed Reutter in the early 60s, and the remaining part of the coachbuilder decided to focus on making car seats, and so then it changed its name to Recaro.
Another 356 Speedster
One car I really always like, is this orange 1976 911S.
Rollcage, 17in replica Fuchs, and this...3.0L running PMO carbs and MSD ignition.
Not a real GT2, but it was running IRTBs

The 1970s 911 category was well patronised too
Surprisingly, most were clean restos, rather than RS clones. The orange car is actually not a longhood 911, it's actually a late 80s Carrera 3.2 with a cosmetic backdate...
...and running a 964 motor, no less.
The Viper Green 911 closest to the camera was on P plates!
He has a vintage Becker radio (just like the Hako)....not sure if I'm feeling the trim rings around the dials, but the rest of the cabin was spot on
This 356B 'vert was in the concours category (I think it came 3rd)
Superb detail
Original handbooks!
And a perfect cabin...couldn't fault it
A few racers parked in the non-judged section

This outlaw 356 has been in the Club since the 1980s, I remember seeing it at a club concours with my Dad decades ago. Still looks the same.
993 RS
Another one, this was in the concours category
The 928s had their own Wash and Polish category, but only 4 of them though (just the same...they outnumbered the 964s)
This 928S4 scooped a prize in the Concours category
...understandably so
3.8 997 GT3 RS in the concours category (came 2nd IIRC)
The 924/944/968s had a well stocked category too in Wash and Polish
As did the Boxter/Cayman guys
And so how did the 964 go?
We didn't win anything, but got some pointers for next year!
Great event will attend again A+++

Thanks for sharing the great pictures and Porsches. The flag mirrors are what I had in my head as a kid. The 80's 911 section reminded me why...
