Heat Shield ?
Has anyone removed the right side heat shield after a G pipe install?
This heat shield is designed to block the heat from the secondary muffler.
Thanks,
Jim

I've been thinking about this lately....the existing heatshielding consists of say, the stock shielding bolted to the cat, plus the boxy looking shield that crowds in the plug wires. So there are 2 layers.
But what if we used just a single layer, but something more modern and space-age like this stuff: http://www.aclperformance.com.au/prod_heatshield.htm
So ditch the inner shielding, which would vastly improve access to plugs and also allow more airflow around the plug wires to cool them while the car is moving. And then fabricate heat shields from this material next to the cat & secondary muffler. It would be simpler and look a lot more elegant.
Thoughts, guys?

I removed the boxy sides around the engine as well as the heat shields (but not those protecting the bumpers) and had my Fabspeed exhaust (no cats) ceramic coated and have had no problems with heat.
