I talked to the dealer and he still claims they were new. He says stuff like that isn't covered in the warranty. These were solid rubber mounts, no oil that broke. I plan to replace both mounts just as a good idea. The car runs and goes into gear, I was able to make another coil wire from one of my old 944 turbo plug wires. All I need is a mount.

If you're going to spend the money, get some Wevos.

The only problem with those if you run them hard the engine crossmember is prone to cracking.

There is a fix for that, too, but it means pulling the crossmember out and welding reinforcements on it.

I bought the $115 993/993tt mounts from Pelican. The mount that broke has no part # or any identifying marks. The dealer said he bought the mounts for my car from Deutsche Parts USA. I put the Pelican mount on today and it is great quality, not the made in china look

So what IS covered by this dealer's warranty?
You need to shame him into paying for it. No more Mr. Nice guy.
Ask him for the receipt from Deutsche Parts. If the mounts are new they should have a warranty themselves.
The dealer is hoping you just go away quietly. I hope you don't.
What is the dealer's name?

Hi, I am the dealer, I can assure you that part was new when installed.

No, unfourtunately the motor mount is not covered under the terms of the Limited Warranty.

However, the part itself is, at least according to Deutsche Parts USA, under warranty. I have sent two emails, and photos of the mount. I guess to no surprise they haven't contacted me back, so I am pushing further. The phone number 1-917-539-3636 just goes to voice.

I feel bad about it and had no ill-will intended. At the time that I got these mounts there was a discussion about them and some Rennlisters were even using them. To the best of my knowledge, no one had reported a failure that I am aware of, but noted the sub-par quality.

Furthermore, for anyone else considering cheap E-bay mounts I would not recommend it for obvious reasons, and they really were not that much cheaper, btw they are or were advertised as OEM.

Mr. Dealer,
You are obviously aware of the sub-par quality of these Ebay mounts. No further debate necessary on that front.

What would help your cause is to call your local Porsche dealer, purchase a correct set of motor mounts for a 1990 911, and overnight them to Chris.

That's certainly how I would handle the situation. At a minimum.

these things look scary.. the 'no pillow option' to save weight

Mr. Dealer
Send your customer some real motor mounts or cut him a check.
Don't hide behind your shady vendors.

+1 on avoiding those like the plague!

I see that they advertise them as 'OEM fit' i.e. they are NOT OEM!

not just OEM fit, but "OEM PORSCHE 911 996 993
Motor/Engine Mount"

I don't think that is even legal to advert something as OEM that isn't.

$250 later and it runs again and stays in one piece. Stay away from counterfeit parts...just my advice.
