Default 964 steering fork replacement. How often?

I bought a '93 964 C2 a couple years ago and I'm looking to 'refresh' it.

It needs new tie rod ends. So, I'm replacing those.

But, does it need new tie rod forks as well? How long does the average tie rod fork last? I may upgrade the tie rod forks to the RS version if it's worth it. Has anyone done it and noticed a difference?

TIA!

Every 15 years at least. It's rubber so they loose they performance over time. If you change buy the C4/RS forks instead of C2. They are a little stiffer but still rubber. And yes, I could feel the difference on track.

Another question about the steering forks. Are they easy to replace while I'm replacing the tie rod ends? Do I need any special tools?

Thanks!

[hijack] I read recently about someone having 'pinned' these forks for better response (turning them solid, effectively). Ever heard of that? Photos?

TIA! [/hijack]

This sounds more promising than the "Green PDAS light upgrade".

Just as an FYI in case anyone cares, the rectangular lock nuts on the steer angle limitation nut (964-347-325-02) can be tightened to spec with a 32 mm wrench.
