Default Introduction

Hi All,

Just thought I'd introduce myself to the group. I don't have a 964 yet but am planning to get one in next 2-3 years. Just got out of school and after 12 years of schooling, I have a little bit of debt to pay off before I can handle the cost of owning one of these.

In the mean time, I thought I'd join this forum to learn as much as I can about the car before taking ownership of one. I've already ordered the 964 Enthusiast's Companion from Bentley and downloaded some service manuals, etc. I currently have a Jetta which will be relegated to the winter beater when I actually have the 964.

Thanks for reading!

Mike

Mike, I lurked on this board for several years before buying my 964, so that when the right opportunity presented itself, and I had the funds, I was able to make a smart purchase.

Don't listen to these guys! Forget the colour and just buy on condition!!! (but red ones are probably the best!!)

Have you driven one yet? Once you have there'll be no turning back!!

Good luck with getting the cash together and getting into Porsche ownership. The 911 is one of those cars that every petrolhead should own at some point in their lives!

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. Although it's getting real hard to deal with the temptation of jumping in right away (especially after skulking around here for the last couple days), it will have to be at least a couple years before any purchase is made. During grad school, I was able to save enough for a down payment on a house with a nice big garage to do all the repair work So I figure, after another couple years when the student loans are paid down and I have re-built my discretionary funds, I can put that towards the car. I still have some time before my premature mid-life crisis anyway.

I am currently enamored with the dark 964s... the black, amazon green, dark blue etc... but then again, my mood changes with the wind and between now and the time I buy, I'm sure I'll go through a whole gambit of colours in my head.

White 964s might be the fastest, black ones might be the coolest, and red ones might be the best, but there is no disputing that slate gray 964s attract the most hot women. It's a fact, look it up.

You will learn alot here, and when you are ready to start looking, heed the advice to drive as many different cars as you can, always invest in a PPI and buy the best car you can afford.

Welcome!
