Default PPI leak down test results

Hello to all of you,
I am looking at a 1990 c2 and the PPI result came in:
#1- 15%
#6-15%
#2- 25% (rings)-not major.
#4- 15%
#3- 15%
#5- 10%
I am just concern by the #2 at 25%.
Also there is a small leak from the chain case, they recommend a reseal.
The car is in really good shape and very well taken care of.
I would like some feed back.
Thank you in advance

I would only consider this car if you are willing to drop some big money into it. This is an old post from Steve Weiner @ Rennsport Systems that I dug up on the Pelican Parts engine rebuilding forum:

Air leaks heard from the airbox-air cleaner assembly shows leaking intake valves.

Air leaks heard from the exhaust pipe(s) shows leaking exhaust valves.

Air leaks heard from the oil tank filler tube shows leaky rings.

This is how the numbers on the leakdown guage are quantified: 0-5% is about perfect, 6-10%is great, 11-20% requires some investigation, 20%+ shows a problem.

Compression tests do NOT tell you WHERE the source of any compression loss is.

They look more like H1s to me.

Hi,

25% is a problem if its coming from the rings as that requires some major expense to resolve.

Overall, those leakdown numbers are not great and some further investigation is needed before you make an offer on the car.

Thank you for all your honest inputs, again I am a true believer in PPI, the $450 I spent were well worth it.
Because of it I will pass on the car.
I think that looking for a 964 will be a full time job for me ;-)
Cheers,
Sonauto

Where are you in the country? Coupe or cab?
Let us all know what you are looking for and maybe we can turn you on to a car we know about!

That's why I chose this avatar. I really don't have anything meaningful to say.

I am looking for a coupe with a manual trans, no white no red.
I am looking for a dry engine.
The mileage doesn't scars me as I experienced on my previous search ( she had less than 60K).
Thank you for all your help.
Sincerely,

Do you have any restrictions on what part of the country or world you're willing to consider looking in? In my case, I was willing to look anywhere in the continental US, and ended up buying a 964 that was located in Chicago, IL.
