I can't help with a comparison - but I can say, this is what I had on my 964. Got it fitted not long after I bought the car, and to this day I still think it was superb.

At the time, I hadn't noticed any problems with the original suspension - although the car had about 120k miles on it, and for all I know it was still original. The mechanics who recommended replacing it (GT One in Chertsey) told me that they thought the damping was well past it's best - but that because the stock suspension is pretty good, people didn't really tend to notice even if it wasn't behaving at peak efficiency. They assured me I'd notice the difference when it was changed.
The RUF suspension did seem to transform the car - of course, that could be partly due to new suspension vs old. It felt like it turned much tighter after that though, and was very predictable when pushed hard. It felt like a fairly firm ride - but nothing too severe and not really much different from my 996 turbo suspension.

Good question. One of these dropped in my lap about 10 years ago off of a car I was doing a pretty comprehensive track prep for. Never bothered to put the shocks on a dyno, nor test rates. What always puzzled me was that Ruf supplied an absolutely MASSIVE front stabilizer bar (non-adjustable). Was mainly that reason I never could dial out the understeer. I think we even ran 245 tires all the way around once just to see.
