Default Thumbs up for RS motor mounts

I decided it was time to finally do this upgrade and am really pleased with the result. The car feels so much firmer at the rear and gear changes are slicker than before...even though my normal hydraulic engine mounts are only 2 years old and still in very good condition.

Here's the kit - I bought the lot from Porsche as with Porsche club discount they came up with the best price:

Here's a mount on its own - love Porsche's attention to detail by including a water drain hole in the frame cup.

An original mount before I removed it:

Most of the feedback I've seen on here about the Wevos is good but after taking account of shipping and tax, the Porsche mounts worked out to be only a few dollars more. Putting in mounts that were designed and made by the factory for our cars, were the factors that swayed my decision.

The rear feels more composed through the corners and is quicker to 'set' on turn in. There's a bit more mechanical noise transmitted to the cabin but I like that!

I had the gusset plate welded to the carrier a while back because of my addiction to trackdays. The only reason I waited to get the RS mounts is that my normal hydraulic mounts weren't very old and they had cost me more than the RS mounts!

The only reason I went with the Wevo's was the economics. If the RS mounts were priced the same or fairly close I would have gone with factory too! I found the Wevo's second hand, so they were a strong deal, and I purchased new black and blue pillows, which are the "wear" items on the Wevo's.

My car was transformed with new MM's. Much more precise! Nicely done Steve!!! They look just right, and dress up the engine bay nicely

Nice!

I would've been happy to go with the RS, but decided to go with the Wevo Blue motor mounts. I figured that I'd go with the stiffest option first, to see if I could tolerate the additional noise and vibration on the street; and move softer (Blue/Black pillows; Black pillows; and then RS mounts) if necessary. Well, I'm happy with my choice because I find that the noise difference is minimal on my already loud car (primary bypass, no engine insulation, RS carpets). There is more vibration and noticeable at idle, but it's not annoying to me... and feels like your seat is more 'attached' to the engine (especially through race bucket seats). It's a 'sportier' feeling than the stock mounts, and 'sporty' is why I love this car!

Here you go:

Mounts (x2) 964 375 043 81
Seats (x4) 901 305 311 00
Washers (x4) 999 025 074 02
Bolts (x2) 900 082 030 02
Washers (x4) 999 025 134 02

You re-use the large nuts on the bottom of your existing mounts and the bolts to fasten the mounts to the engine bay.

You'll need someone to hold a wrench on the bolt heads while you torque up the nut (63 ftlb) from underneath.

How is the install on these engine mounts? Pretty simple?

Fairly straightforward. Jack up the rear. Then take the weight off of the mounts by jacking the engine up a bit. Once the engine is supported, you can undo the mounting nuts from below, then remove the bolts holding the supports from the top, and out it comes. Reverse the process for installation.

Easy enough - thanks!!

Oh also, I should ask - are you going to do the reinforced engine carrier now?
