Default Good things do come to those who wait

Well it took a lot longer than I thought or hoped it would, but last week I finally brought home my first Porsche. A very clean, stock, 1992 black 964. What I wanted in fact.
Following a long search and a rather complicated retrieval from the reseller in Vienna, I finally found myself smiling ear to ear during the 3.5 hour "bonding road trip" driving home to Salzburgland.
I had been dreaming about that moment for some 30+ years. I'm sure the feelings, sounds, senses I experienced were no different than anyone else on this site. Fantastic!

I had some good advice from friends and fellow rennlisters on where to find a good car over here in Europe. It seems to/(hope it) paid off. Thanks for your assistance guys.

Apart from updating suspension (which was needed), I am not in a real rush to modify it. Want to feel it out first and then decide.

Question...Are there any rennlisters in the Salzburg area?.(that also happen to be Canadian? (yeah right...))

look forward to the great times ahead.

Cheers
Jr
PS..better pics to come

Nice! Congratulations. I remember when I brought my car home, and it was stock, and I thought I "just wanted to change the interior color"...yeah, about that...

I've been known to be in the Salzburg area from time to time, if I find myself there again, I'd love to hook up for some 964 talk over some Stiegl and Mozart ***** - maybe catch a Sound of Music tour? I'm not Canadian, though I do speak english without the funny accent (or is it with?)

Jr, Congrats on a great find; and no sunroof too! Almost impossible to find here in the US. Out of curiosity, who was the re-seller (dealer?) in Vienna? I have a good friend who is well known in Porsche club racing circles; he also owns a P-shop in Vienna. I was in Salzburg in October; really enjoyed the museum on top of the cliff, a super fancy French restaurant with a tasting menu (can't remember the name although it was a good walk out of town along that narrow road) and especially the Afro Cafe for coffee and the best [chili?] ribs I've ever had. Cheers, Jay

thanks for the notes guys. Was a good find with no sun roof and the Sport seats. Yes, it may/will be a pain in the *** to keep clean, but there are few things nicer in life than a clean 911.
The dealer was www.rsr.at if you would like to know. I think I do know the other dealer too Jay that you are referring too. Both are very good in their own rights.

Pembi 964....Might be tough to bring her to the S2S...as you know, when I do find myself there each year, the car will still be in its winter bed. Like your car as well I would think?

Chase, let me know when you are on this side of the pond next...There are a few other notable sights then Mozarts kochen and Steigl. Can't say I ever did the Sound of Music tour in the 8+ years I have lived here. You would be hard pressed to find any Austrian for that fact that knew about it!
cheers

Johannes is a good friend of mine. Next time you're in Vienna or need Porsche advice (buying, selling, racing, etc.), give him a call and tell him I referred you. Here's his link. http://www.hwev.at/

+1 on the seats.

What is that odd grey colored insert between the foglight and the front turnsignal??? More pics!!!

I found that other than a fresh tune-up, G-pipe, and the Euro low/high beam relay (you don't need this) I am quite satisfied with my car as-is. I thought about new suspension...but then I did the sensible thing and just got new rear shocks and now I know why I thought I needed a whole new suspension before.

Congrats.

PS I think your post-buying experience was better than the rest of ours because you drove it home IN AUSTRIA!!!!!!!! Hochtortunnel anyone?????!
