Think the 16-inch D90s would fit over these? I run snows in the winter.

Ok, 968 M030, that makes sense.

I recognized the rears but not the fronts, when you called them 928 that's what confused me

Don't know, sold my D90s a long time ago. The spare fits over them, I checked that!

My worry too. Would be great to have bigger brakes (too much brake is never enough!) but don't want to shell out for a new set of wheels as well.

Those may work, 993s and 928s4s came with 16" wheels(same front calipers) find someone with a 993 to test fit one of your wheels and you are good.
