Default New brakes! **Caution, Brake ****!***

Just got my car back from my latest battery of re-freshening and upgrades. I didn't really need more brakes, but figured one step up would be nice "just in case" I decide to do more track work. I needed new rotors anyway, so decided to go the plus one route. 928S4 fronts(304mm) and 993 rears with cross drilled rotors all around, painted red, of course! I'm really happy with how they turned out! Check out my custom decals...

Major thanks to Bill Verburg and his chart on brakes

Looks good.
What was the total cost?
Is it basically calipers, rotors & some sort of bracket?

Got the brakes used on ebay for about $700 total, hoping to recoup as much as possible from the sale of the originals(see other thread!), plus rotors at another $350 or so, adapter front brackets are going for $200 at Rennline, but I believe mine were used parts the shop had, plus paint and decals that most would do themselves. The rears don't require brackets or even different rotors, but I wanted cross drilled. I was having all the wheel bearings and CV joints done, so I had the shop do it all while everything was apart.

So are the numbers something like ...

new parts:
front calipers $700
front rotors $350
adpater $200

sell old parts:
front calipers $300

upgrade cost = $950

but my rotors need replacing so it is really only $600

Sell both sets of calipers as the 993 rears have larger pistons(more clamping force) to help compensate for the bigger fronts. So you may be down around $300. If you went with standard rotors, you could do better on pricing. Not a bad upgrade for the money, as long as I can sell my original calipers. By the way, that was $700 for BOTH sets of calipers.

Not needed for a C4. I did change out the proportioning valve to the 40bar used on 993's.

They actually are older 928s4 fronts. Since those had the raised Porsche letters and horizontal lines, I had those machined off to get the flat surface for the decals. Thanks Bill for all of the info you have posted on this subject, this project was a direct result of your unwavering help to the community.

I went with the 304s as they are much lighter than the 322s, and these are probably overkill enough, bigger isn't always better. I will probably never need all of this braking power, but my brakes will probably last forever as they don't have to work to stop the car at any speed!

The decals I got from an online company that I saw on another thread here on Rennlist. I had issues with them and will not post their name and support them. I had to file a pay pal complaint to finally get the product. After the fact, I googled them and found out many people had filed complaints against them, I usually research first but got lazy.

I've never seen drilled 928S4 rotors, have you got part #s?

Got them from your post on Pelican, both rotor sets are 968 M030 I believe. 965 351 041,2 01 fronts, 951 352 041 91 rears. Here is the original post which tells you all you need to make this project happen:

It all just bolts on!

Sorry, misread this to read calipers. 968 M030 rotors all around, 928S4/993 front calipers and 993 rear calipers.
