C4 - to be or not to be...
Hi,
I am just wondering if trying to lighten my C4 is a exercise in futility knowing the weight penalty of the AWD.
I have a 7GT3RS that I use as a track toy and was tempted on trying put my C4 on a moderate diet. I was thinking of shedding 40 to 50 kilos from RS carpets (removing sound deadenning), RS panels, Carbon fibre bucket seats.
On the power dep't my target is 300BHP and I think getting a FVD LB2 kit with a full CUp exhaust system should get me there.
So my dilemma is with the 300BHP on hand whether to try lighten her up or keep her as she is and use her as a DD and occasional track day.

Drifting
less is more.....Cup bypass, G-Pipe, A/C delete, Straight tube in place of rear blower fan... it all adds up.... From what I hear, a C4 on a wet track is unstoppable

Yeah, but what's the point? You running in a competitive, timed competition? I pulled weight out of mine 10 years ago, and guess what............next to zero difference. Then factor in how often you've got a passenger in the car anyway. 300HP isn't the magic bullet, either. I'm just on the north side of that with the 993 faux RS, and what's it worth a lap...........a second? A 997 GT3RS pulls me 4 car lengths down the front straight at Thunderhill, and that's nearly a 100HP difference.

Make no mistake that the car FEELS different. It's just not much faster around the track. Amazing how we compensate.
I always get a kick out of "DE Winner/Instructor" who has fully butchered his car to make it more track worthy. He's usually one of the first guys soliciting passengers for rides. So you spend all that effort, and marginalize your car, only to add back ~200 lbs. of ballast in the right seat.

Funny....I use to mt. bike pretty seriously and guys were always talking about taking weight off their bikes when at least 1/2 of them were fairly hefty guys. A few oz. off the bike vs. 10 lbs off the guy? One of the cheapest, most straightforward ways to drop weight has got to be taking weight off yourself (if you've got some extra to spare). After all, 10lbs of sprung weight is 10lbs of sprung weight right (minus location in the car of course)? NOTE: I didn't say easiest or most fun...though other benefits may exist.
