What kind of records do you have on the car? Owned it long? Any recent work (clutch? Suspension? etc). While I would be an "outside" buyer, these are the questions one may have when looking at 20+ year old car. Some of these are big $$ items that a future buyer may need to consider.

imho, its priced a bit high. I think somewhere in the $15-16 range is where it will move. If it were mine (wanna trade for a 944?) I'd add some CupII wheels and some Aero side mirrors!

GLWTS.. Definitely post on CL and Pelican to expand your buyer pool. If a member, PCA couldn't hurt either.

I do have records. Couple of things done before I got the car are distributor was replaced, tie rod replaced, brakes and calipers replaced, seem to be the biggest items. I have replaced alternator, distributor belt and put in vent kit.
also upper timing chain tensioner, rear blower motor, tires, brake pads and rotors etc.
I bought the car in Nov. 2005 after losing my 1986 928 in Katrina.

Ugh... that had to suck.

JMO, this car is an absolute buy at the price you have it.

There have been a couple $15-16K cars that people on Rennlist have bought over the last year. They either have a ton of miles, or they have serious mechanical deficiencies - or both. A lot of theses folks' experiences ain't been pretty.
$16K would be giving this car away.

Thanks Bearclaw
I hope I don`t have to come down much on the price.
It was a big surprise for the 928 to get wet. I thought it was plenty high in my garage.

That had to be a horrible experience. Too bad you couldn't just drag it down to the dealer in Risky Business who cleaned up that waterlogged 928 in a day! Haha "who's the U boat commander?"

Seriously though, your targa is priced right where it should be. The right buyer will come, depending on how long you want to wait. If you dropped it another grand, it would probably sell in a week.

Too nice a car to cheap sell. Hold firm on price. Take some great hi-res pics. Write a great ad. Go national. Include e-bay.....you just might see a bidding war on your RARE targa.

It's a beautiful car by the way.

Good luck!

Mitch, I agree with this. David, I think it would be very helpful to look at some of the for sale ads and put together one of your own that really sells this car. It seems to have all the right stuff but you not hooking a potential buyer. Talk about the car, what you have had done to it, what it might need and take some great pictures.

I actually wonder a bit if the price isn't scaring people away a bit. When you see something low you wonder...hmmm...what's wrong with it. If you had priced it higher it would have been a clue that it wasn't a problem car "since all well sorted 964s are $20K+".

My thoughts...good luck with the sale.

Travis, good point. Pricing it at 21.5, highlighting the rarity, records, and condition would likely attract the 'value' buyer instead of the 'cheap Porsche' buyer -AKA - 'MOOCH' might be just the ticket here.

^^^^^^^
Great point guys.

I thought the same thing when I first saw the price..."really good looking car, but why so cheap?"
I like the idea of attracting the 'value' buyer, instead of the 'cheap' buyer.

I would pull that for sale sign - your market is probably not in your neighborhood.

That's a really good looking targa! Any nibbles yet? Have you changed the price? If not, you might try fishing in a different pond - the one starting at $21.5K.
