Default 964 cup towing eye

Can anyone confirm how this is secured?

A pic would be great of the eye off the car if anyone has one?

Thanks!

I've no idea how much they will cost to make up, but the ones on PCGB were £20.00 which seemed reasonable to me

Diameter is 12 mm. The threads are maybe 15-20 mm. The sheet metal in the front is thin so just have enough thread for the nut, and a bracket on the inside. I have a aluminium bracket that is 50 mm wide, 5 mm thick and 300 mm long. It fits nicely where the jack is/was positioned.

Keep us informed of when you have some to sell. If you need 'TOW' stickers to go with it, there are plenty of choices on ebay:

My camera is broken so no pics, but I just had a look at it. I did mine slightly larger. The stock eye is to small, especially if you have a registration plate and if you put a tow hook in a stock eye you'll probably crack your bumper.

So my measurements are:
12 mm thick steel, the cup eye is 10 mm I think, both works
70 mm inner diameter of the loop
130 mm longfrom the bulk head to the "top" of the loop (plus the threaded part)
20 mm are the threaded parts

The pic above is a real cup eye including the alu bracket. But that bracket is to small if you don't have the double sheet metal as on the cup. So use a bigger bracket as from my measurements in the previous post and you'll be fine.

when you have done them, count on me for this, most probably i will take 2 sets.

Are you doing only for the front part or both front and back?

No no, you mount it front through the upper slot in the grill. If you look from inside the trunk it's more or less exactly where the jack is supposed to sit. You have to cut away some small pieces of the plastic grill in order the wedge the eye with the welded washers in place. Then just drill two holes through the sheet metal into the trunk.

the bracket should look like the Cup one above but just bigger in order to give more support.

Thomas
