Default More than average oil leak?

I talked to quite a few 964 owners and they said that this amount of oil from two weeks of driving and sitting is normal others say its not.

What do you guys think?

That's more than it can be. My coupe doesn't leave more than a dot or two on the floor each week. It took a while to find the leaks and fix them (cam chain covers, oil pressure sender, etc). Does the amount leaked bother you? Are you having to add much oil?

It does bother me I just had people telling me it was normal was I was confused, and no the oil level is fine.

The temp never runs near hot everything is pretty sound.

This isn't very scientific but...if it leaks enough to run with the slope of the floor that seems like a lot to me...

Mine leaks that much. It has been that way for years. I had an Indy try to stop them, but no luck. He even had the engine out and replaced quite a few items.

Maybe one day after I have broke down and do an engine rebuild, it will be leak free.

Are you sure your 'non-scientific' method isn't based on using a non-painted concrete garage floor? His floor apears to be painted.

Moffman,
Is your plastic pan still on? If so, it may indicate there is even more than what you see on the floor since what would have collected on the pan may have blown off as you drove.

Get the car up on some jack stands, clean the underside, then try to determine where the leaks are. It could be something like oil return tubes, which are easy to fix.

Take it to the dealership and have them throw it up on a lift and see what you can find out. It may be a simple gasket that has completely failed or you may be in for a top end rebuild. Has the motor ever been rebuilt? Have you had any of the critical gaskets replaced - if it's all 20+ year gaskets in there you may have to spend some time or money or both to address the issue.

I would expect to see a few drops of oil after driving. I had a 90 C2 that leaked like a SOB and I had to get that motor rebuilt and it was fine after the rebuild.

Is the oil in the picture a result of a normal drive (1 hour cruising around)?
