Yes, the car is too low to fit over the lift.

The pieces are made though so they come apart like Lincoln-Logs so I can work on the underside without the frame in the way.

I did not want to recess the lift as ultimately I plan to get a 2-post lift so the floor is 6" thick but there are "pads" that are actually 10" thick with no in-floor heat tubing spaced so I can drill in and bolt a 2-post in place.

Lovin the RC-51! I used to ride with a guy who had one. The gear drive and twin carbon Jardines were the best sound. As close to a Ducati as you get!

But at least your glorified shed is right next door to the Gold Coast.

Rinty,
I love my new VFR 1200. It is an amazing bike. Ive done 2 tours this year, first was about 3200 miles in 8 days to Colorado and back to Midland. Second was to Arkansas and back which was about 2200 miles in 6 days, we got rained out by the tropical storm in Sept. Ive got 5900 miles since late May.
I used to tour on my Superhawk which is a lot of fun but the VFR 1200 has an amazing amount of power and is really comfortable if you are coming from the sportbike side of things. If you are coming from a Goldwing it might not seem comfortable.

Here is a ink that describes my 2 tours this summer(with pics) and a 500 mile daytrip with my daughter on the back.

Damon,
Thanks for the compliment on the RC 51. I too love the sound of that bike and the way it handles. The gear driven cams sound like it has a supercharger. I love the confused looks when I pull into a gas station. Ive had CBR 900s and my SuperHawk and RC 51 V twins and now a V 4 VFR 1200 and I like the V 4 and V Twins the best but I could be tempted by the new R 1. I used to ride with a bunch of Ducati guys when I lived in Houston and my Honda V Twins sound just as good and are more wallet friendly. Although, I love Ducs and will probably have one someday, they are just beautiful to look at. If I get one Ill want to move it into my living room so I can stare at all the time. Im pretty sure my wife will object.

I'm still saving the $50K to build a proper garage. Until then my cars sleep here. I push the Triumph against the wall in the winter so my wife can get the SUV in... It helps that the Triumph is 4 1/2' wide. If you can't tell, yes I have kids.

that is true, but my garage is literally just a shed to keep the cars protected. some of the garages in here, looks like you could live out of them!

But that's all you need, in the sub-tropics; protection from the sun.

So which one do you take for a run up to Springbrook: the Mini, or one of the P-Cars?

This is how you park two 964s and fit 4 cars in a 2 car garage. It's tight but it works:

Yes I have a cat and kids.
