Default New 964C2 owner

Hello, another newbie and first time Porsche owner. I thought I'd register my presence here since this site has been put to much use already!

This is my steed ...

1990 C2 in Grand Prix White. Recent engine rebuild and on Bilstein Sport suspension.

First job was to replace the boot seal, a messy job but very satisfying. Next up is the audio system as all the original loudspeakers have fallen apart.

Then it is crying out for a set of Cups or Speedline reps. Genuine 17" Cups seem a bit hard to come by though. Anyone know of the whereabouts of any for sale?

I had many happy years with Caterham Sevens but family life is not especially conducive to 2 seat sports cars. The 911's 2+2 ability makes it perfect for me to indulge my hobby and include the family at the same time. It goes without saying I am enjoying the 964 immensely!

First trackday at Cadwell Park next week to find out how this thing handles. I've been a bit scared of the 911 reputation so far if I'm honest.

I noticed theres a fair few 964 owners in the Northwest UK. I hope to see some of you around.

cheers
Carl.

Lovely car! I almost bought it myself actually - I went to see it at RPM and almost did the deal there and then but decided on another car that already had some of the upgrades I planned on doing. A friend of mine wanted to buy it as well but you beat him to it! I have also gone from a Caterham to a 911 and for the same reasons as you. I am certainly not disappointed so far although I have not managed to get to the track yet. I would be interested to hear how it compares to your 7 at Cadwell. Congratulations!

Which one did you buy James? Sounds like we were both touring the dealers at the same time!

I know my way around Cadwell as I did it many times in the 7. Cadwell is tight and twisty and a 964 won't see which way a 7 went somewhere like that... My 7's used to be on Yokohama A048's too which helped quite a lot.

I'm looking forward to the challenge though. I'll let you know how it goes.

I bought from a private seller in the end, a 1990 C2 in guards red, 95k miles, with suspension and brake upgrades. It's going to RPM in a weeks time for RS ARB's and a few other bits.

I have never been to Cadwell, it always seemed a bit too far to get there and back from London in a day. I must give it a go someday though as I have heard it is fantastic.

@Boxsey, Curborough is not doable unfortunately and I was too late for PCGB Oulton. I've never driven Oulton yet and now I live in the vicinity I need to do it soon! Much of the motivation for getting the car was a day spent at the Gold Cup on August BH weekend watching a mate thrap his classic 911. Amazing circuit.

@James, It's only 3 hours ish from London and a B&B is only about £35. It will take me about 3 hours to get there too. Absolutely brilliant circuit.

Yep, I was there too. Was this your mate's 911?

p.s. That's the first I've heard that next Tuesday is fully booked...there's usually spaces on the day. Even if it's full booked it won't be busy on track because they limit to about 50 cars. If the weather holds it's one of the best days of the year to drive Oulton...will be my 7th or 8th go I think

You're right about Cadwell not being too far, if I am honest with myself, the lack of run-off is probably the biggest reason I haven't been yet.

In answer to your question regarding wheels, Si77 on here has some newly refurbished black replica Cup 1's for sale:

I think they would look great on a white car.
