Out of nowhere? This thread is 6 months old.

Anyway, I still have it and am not using it.

Yeah, but they thought it was worth 16k without seeing it based on being a 964 w/100k miles.

I have a place that wants to sell it for me, are sure that they can get 20k, I'd net 18k, no hassles, and I trust them, having done business with them before. That is my best alternative right now. But it is not ilke 18k is so great that I am jumping all over it. That is my fall back, though.

I forgot to mention that I put in a lightweight flywheel.

$18-20K is cheap for your car. It'll sell quick. The consignment place will likely make more than you think, knowing how hot the C2 5 spd coupe market is getting. There are threads on most P-car boards now about how good these cars are. The world is taking notice, and cars are being shipped back to Europe, like the early cars were 12 years ago.

OUCH!!!

Guess I'm confused about consignment places. Every one I've run into puts basically whatever price the owner wants on it. When I've looked at consignment cars that were overpriced, I've been told, "That price was set by the owner". Also, isn't there an agreement about a fee or commission rate? When it's sold, there has to be a sales agreement written up. I guess there's some potential for monkey business, but if everything's spelled out and documented, it *should* be above board.

I think the market is definitely warmer than when this thread was started. $20-22K should be an easy sale.

I spoke with a couple of them last fall. There is a set deal on the commssion. The place I think my car will end up gets 10%. As far as the price, it is a negotiation, too. The consignment shop wants the lowest price possible so that they can move it quickly without a lot of work. The owner doesn't have any added work if they want to hold out for a high price, but the dealer has a lot of space, time, and effort taken up when the price is set high.

I plan to put it at the place I bought it. They have a large customer base that buys cars like this, and they are sure that they can get 20k or more, netting me at least 18k. Not ideal, but all I have to do is drop it off and then collect the check. Avoiding the hassles of a sale seems easily worth 2k to me. If it ends up at 25k, and they get 2500, all the better; i'll pay them 10% no matter what, but won't let them sell it for less than 20k.

It is QE2 to my rescue! Obama wants my car to be worth 50k so I can afford to buy a Volt.

Guys, thanks for the comments, but this thread created more problems for me than it solved. Please disregard the whole thing. I'm keeping it at least for the summer, and will consign it if I want to move it.
