The guy who is selling is a friend of a friend of mine also and I don't believe he was speculating. As far as I know, he sold an immaculate E30 M3 so that he could buy Si's car but subsequently decided to reduce the amount of money he had tied up in cars (he also has a 996 GT3 RS) so the 964 is up for sale again. I saw him and the car at a Goodwood breakfast club a couple of months back and he had no intention of selling then. I imagine the car is on sale or return with Gmund and if that's the price they feel they can achieve and he is in no hurry to sell then he would be silly not to have a go at that level imo. In reality, it will likely go for closer to £20k, Gmund will take at least £1.5k for the sale and the owner may need to fund the cost of repairs/servicing, I don't think he will be making much of a profit.

Just to be sure James, I was only pointing to the dealer doing a bit of price speculating. The same is true of Bawmnot's (Andrew) old C2 which is at another dealer, advertised as a 'recreation project' because it's a LHD car and is priced at a good £7K more than Andrew sold it for. Nothing has been done to it since it arrived at the dealer. I now wish I'd bought it off him when he offered it to me!

BTW, I've nothing against dealers making their margin....good luck to them if they can get it...and it has a nice knock on effect to the value of our own cars

I was in no way saying that Rob purchased the car from myself to make money, and I know he had every intention of keeping, he's a good honest guy. I was just a little disheartened to see it up for sale for that amount of money, but I guess that's what dealers do. It's a cool car and worth whatever someone will pay for it.

I just hope that this price will be reflective of values for future modified 964 sales. Especially on a person level, seeing as my car has a similar spec to date and will be going down a similar route with light weight seats, cage, big reds...

Worth mentioning I'd sell my kidney before my 64, but would be reassuring to know the difference in value between my kidney and my car is becoming smaller.

It seems that a wisely modified 64 is worth more than a standard car?

Similar was my RSA I sold for $21K the first of this year. Not to a dealer, but someone who seems to go through a lot of 911s. I didn't care, as I had no use for the car. But not 4 months later I see an ad on Pelican with an ask of $30K. All I got from him was that he detailed it, put some front brakes on it, and maybe fixed a couple of oil drips. I was sure hoping a new RSA owner in the LA area who posted here recently hadn't bought that car--he might be in for a major surprise in doing the engine and trans fairly soon!

Frank - imagine if you had a C2 - it would be worth double LOL <just kidding mate >

Its an interesting debate as the standard vs modified as I have read articles recently (Total 911 - Phil Raby) mentioning that the big dollars are out there for very very nice standard cars usually the preference.

I think if I was to ever consider selling I would email the 964 collector in HK (his name alludes me) and see if he was buying again ))
