I saw this car in person on Saturday, and boy was there some work put in this! The owner should be happy with the progress, because I would with that amount of reinforced strength and protection on this car. I love the way the cagework passes through the firewall and reinforces the rear top strut, even down to the front. Sheer workmanship!
As for roof,i'm really surprised the double skin on the sunroof roof weighs a ton, i know I had a lift of the cut away sunroof roof!
Keep up with the good work.

Sorry I missed you, I planned to be in work on Saturday but ended up laying in bed most of the morning and on the couch all afternoon suffering with a bad cold.

Everytime I walked into another section, my eyes lite up ...........Porsche heaven. If I was there working, like Mark you probably lock yourself in there hours if not days on end! Especially when you have such nice projects on the go.
I love the Martini and the speedster hidden away!
Mark was very chatty, and very helpful with some advice i probably need to help me get going with my 964 project. See you soon for those bits.

Its projects like this, that makes you want to come to work, and create one offs if not something special. This is one of the reasons you need to be passionate in building such project, and I see this in Mark, Colin and 9M team are doing. hmmmmmmmm does that make sense?

So, it's been another busy week in the fab shop, photo's below show most of the progress to date:
Roof is on, but detailing the rain gutter lip will have to wait as it is a lot easier to access with the car off the jig.
Windscreen wiper panel replaced.
Strut tops seam welded.
Cage seam welded to A- & B-posts.
Cage to strut top reinforcement tubes fitted.

The Old Dutch himself was in town today so after showing him the progress on the shell we had a perfect excuse to get out all the new carbon panels which have been sat around in boxes for the last couple of weeks. However, since in this case a picture is easily worth 1000 words, here's a few snapshots of the goodies that will be going onto the shell once it has been e-coated. What I can't show you however is the weight of the panels, or more to the point, lack of weight.....

I'm going outside right now to have a smoke and buy a Lotto ticket.
Thanks for sharing all of this with us (and for putting up with our stupid questions)!

Fantastic work. I was wondering why, however, you chose a diagonal door crossbar as opposed to having two bars run parallell to the floor 1/2 way up. I have a 964 cup and the bar is on the diagonal- just the way you did it. This is not meant as a criticism at all- just trying to learn.
