vespam5.
Go with the RS clutch flywheel assembly. Much better than stock, nice firm clutch pedal, spins up nicely, and feels great. I'm in Montrose, so let me know if you want to ck it out in my car. Great work BTW. My hats off to you for the undertaking.
Best,
Chris

I read my "Enthusiast's Companion" and it pretty much says there is no right way to make the light flywheel work without converting to the full RS flywheel sensor system (which is totally different than our cars right?) The software fix only ups the idle a bit to try to keep the engine alive when dropping to idle.
I learned a lot with my heavily modified m3, I did a 12 pound aluminum flywheel, and it was amazing the way it reved, shifted, and downshifted...it transformed the car! But often it died in traffic, I'd have to blip it to "keep it alive" and doing that on a daily car sucked. The noise the flywheel made was also nerve racking.
Nontheless I am very tempted! I started reading a little bit about switch to a 1989 or was it 1990 single mass unit which is about 19 pounds...I don;t know much about this yet but perhaps it's a happy medium?

There has been lots of threads on the LFW subject, and there seem to be a few different opinions from the people who has actually installed one in their car, some find the transmission makes a little more noise, some find idle/stalling issues, but in my case with the RS LFW/clutch package and Steve Wong chip, the car performs absolutely perfect, no added tranny noise, no idle/stalling issues, so in my humble opinion it is a very worth while upgrade for your porsche.

I would check the regular suppliers here on RL, such as Sunset, Pelican, Patrick Motorsport, Rennsportsystems, Vertex, (no affiliations) , my indy supplied mine when the engine was out for cylinder head work.

New kits run $1,600 ish. You'll need GT3 clutch disk (this is the one everyone uses for this application); pressure plate; Lt Wt flywheel; Throw out bearing; guide tube; another bearing (can't remeber what it's called) and new bolts (shorter than dual mass set-up). Pelican sells the kit as does Sunset.
I found absolutely no change to the idle in my car with either AC on or off, and I have thus far retained the stock chip. (I do want the Steve Wong chip, but haven't bellied up yet). This is not to say you won't have idle issues, as it seems this varies greatly among users, for some reason.
PM me your number and we'll set up a time you can drive my car, and we can talk more about it then.

Thanks! I consider my motor "refreshed". I figure I'll keep her as leak free as possible and when the time comes, a real rebuild can happen.
Going in:
New turbo kraft trans mount
New WEVO motor mounts
Bronze bearing shift fork conversion
RS single belt conversion.
Rennline gusset kit
adjusted valves
all the "while I'm there" tasks done.
New Alternator
etc etc
